How come, there are so many people driving around with cell phones in their ear, but in this section, people never seem to call the police or their ins co in the event of an accident?
Don't cell phones work if you want to call the police or your ins co?

Actually the last time I had an accident my cell phone didn't work. After I got hit on the freeway in the rush hour. I managed to get my car off on to the median. Three times I tried to call 911. Each time I got a recording saying that all of their operators are busy. About 5 min. a Highway Patrolman randomly showed up. He didn't even want to take a report. He did help me get a statement from the guy who hit me, admitting fault though. So that was cool.

As for calling my insurance. I did that when I got home. There is no way in hell I'm going to talk to my insurance co from the middle of the freeway.

People don't call the police on their cell phones after an accident? Where are you getting this information? It's 100% incorrect.

As far as calling your insurance company at the accident location... there is little to no point. First, the person you report the loss too will not be handling the claim. Second, you probably won't have the information the carrier needs at that time and lastly, why not get home, sit down and relax a moment before getting the "insurance ball" rolling.

they should if you are in an area where you get service. i was in an accident and used mine to call the police...worked fine. i have also used it for others that were in accidents that needed help. as for driving around with it in your ear, if more people WOULDN'T, there would probably BE less accidents! :)

lol. Absolutely. But when people are in accidents - temporary amnesia sets in causing a mass epidemic of stupid-itis.

I know. I hear it allllll the time.

lol.
