I'm not sure, but I think it might be a little bit.

It really depends on what style of Kickboxing. If it's Muay Thai, Yaw Yan, or anything similar: Not really. As for some others: There's some minor things.
Firstly: They're both striking arts that emphasize hand and leg techniques, and depending on style: Competition may include use of both of those things.
Secondly: Minus the styles I listed (And some others), the kicking is sometimes very similar in nature. Kickboxing tends to be straight to the point application of punching and kicking (Minus those styles I listed that include way more than that), while Tae Kwon Do has hundreds of techniques, and various variations such as jumps, spins, et cetera. Traditional TKD has knees and elbows as well.
As for the styles themselves: Tae Kwon Do is more traditional normally (Which means: Forms, stances, et cetera...), and kickboxing is more towards training for competition and/or self defense.

some of the kicks are..., but the two,,really are not....., TKD doesn't punch in competitions while kickboxing does. TKD has also forms for basic, just like karate, kickboxing has none..its a direct "how to do it"..,also TKD is more on acrobatic.,

Not really, TKD is good if you're planning to compete, you can also compete on Kickboxing but its really painful.
They use knees and elbows in kickboxing and they don't use those in TKD.
TKD is like most martial arts, it takes time, they have these "forms" you have to memorize, etc.
In kickboxing they teach you the kicks and punches you need much faster.
I have found the Kickboxing kicks to be better to inflict harm, in TKD for most kicks you're supposed to kick with the foot, in kickboxing you kick with the tibia.
I haven't seen kids studying kickboxing, seems to be a sport for adults, while TKD is full of kids.

yes and no... they are both striking arts... that is about where the similarities end... kickboxing or MT ... Don Wilson was a kick boxer who fought like a TKD guy... but no low kicks were allowed then...IMO kickboxing (MT) is more about how to land kicks just outside the boxing range, and TKD is about how to land punches jus inside the kicking range... it is just a matter of spacing... if you watch a tkd fight... to get rest they seperate... if you watch a boxing match, to get rest they clinch... in MT the fight get more interesting in the clinch... and in the discussion between the two we havent even thought about the topic of takedowns and submissions (which would cover all aspects of MMA)... but it depends on what you want.... if you want to become very very good at the outside stand up game... TKD is it (it will take years to become proficient)... if you want to dabble in both aspects of punching and kicking... kicboxing is it... if you want to punch, and defend punches (i could punch as hard as any boxer from TKD, but in close if a boxer threw a 4 punch combo on me, id be laid out) boxing is the way to go.... really it is like this... if you are a boxer and you fight a TKD guy, If you havent had any kicking defense training, you may never get into your comfort zone... if you are a TKD guy and havent had any boxing, you may never make it out of the boxers left hook range..... and if the MT guy gets the boxer/ tkd guy in the clinch, they are both screwed.... but everyone on here speaks so highly of one style and curses another, but the fact is you get a good base from any style, and it is really easy to learn another and see what they are trying to accomplish... (the techniques vary, but the game is still the same :)

Well in a way yes as we mainly use our legs and its full contact. But no because in kickboxing you mainly kick with your shin whereas in Tae Kwon Do we use our feet.
