Yes, he did it was some what of a surprise, he is driving the first 5 races and the all-star race in charlotte..I wonder if he will rethink this...he is a great golfer maybe he wants to play some golf then go in the booth at ESPN or TNT ...But he is a great driver..its just with this dang Toyota, I'd like to see him drive something else, but then he is with MWR...I remember watching him when he was a young guy out there and winning...Dale Jarrett you were a great champion..Maybe he can go out a winner in the All-star race in charlotte for his finale..I will miss his UPS commercials they were great....Enjoy your retirement...you were a great champion and a great sport on the track, a real classy driver..

He'll run a few races next season before calling it quits, but here's something rather interesting and amusing!
12Oct2007, Concord,NC,USA (Reuters) Bradley Endicott, Motorsports Staff Reporter
Jarrett to Enter Lorry for Daytona Race:
Reuters has recieved an unconfirmed report that American racing driver Dale Jarrett will attempt to qualify a Lorry from his team's sponsor, United Parcel Service, in the February NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Daytona Beach.
Builders of the specially-modified 3700-kg lorry stated that it has been proven stable at speeds up to 290km/h (180 mph), and that handling issues in traffic have been overcome by use of an outsized rear diffuser (spoiler).
Jarrett has stated that since this shall be his final season in the series, and a limited one at that, he has chosen to "go out with a bang", and actually attempt to "race the big brown truck" as has been an ongoing joke for several years in the sponsor's advertisements.
Go for it Dale Race that Truck!!!!!!! LMAO

yes...(insert death march here) Dale Jarrett is retiring after the shootout, first 2008 5 races and the winston--well, I mean all star challenge. Bummer, but good for him since it will save some embarrassment trying to qualify waltrip's toys.
