Read a LOT. Pay attention to how different writers structure their sentences. Practice describing the people, places, and situations around you. Sign up for the Dictionary.com Word Of The Day - you can learn all sorts of cool words from that. Practice writing often, even if it's just a pointless short story. Get a thesaurus and look up some commonly used words, then look up the exact definitions for some of the more interesting synonyms and try to use them in your writing.

Reading and studying is all you can really do. And you can improve by applying yourself more at school. The more you apply yourself, the better you will become. Go to a library and read books. The more books you read, the better your knowledge will become along with your vocabulary. Try using the words that you learn, in everyday conversation so that you will maintain the information you are reading.
Great brain teasers are Crossword puzzles! You actually exercise your brain doing these kinds of puzzles and the more you exercise your brain, the better you will be especially when you get older.

First get a computer word processor.
Second read a lot of advanced material and read books on how to properly use grammar.

Then when you find out how tough it is to learn on your own take a course. You can take a college course not for credit so you can be a better writer.

Joining a writer's workshop will give other people a chance to read and critique your work.

I have improved my writing by doing a whole lot of it here on Yahoo Answers and I almost always use the spell and grammar checker in my word processor to correct the document before I submit it.

I feel the same way and just read a book that challenged me.
The book is, "Burn Rate" by Michael Wolff. I don't know if you have a business interest, but this book is full of adjectives I've never personally used or previously learned (as well as some I wouldn't use.) It will help increase your vocabulary. He is a 'content specialist.'

Well I made it big, and all I did is that I went to www.thesaurus.com and I tried to use my vocabualry in everyday language, then I read sevral diffrent genres of books and observed the ways authors expressed themselves, then I compared some author's form of expression to a certain genre to anothers. If you need anymore help email me at Sylvialicious9027@yahoo.com Ok? :) Good Luck!
