Yes, you can, as I've done it. I was on swim team and got in trouble, I got in the water, started swimming, and crying. the tears still come out even tho you in water, and I'd come up for air and sob, go back down and cry some more.

Yes and no; as the other person already pointed out, you can't sob underwater; you'd drown.

But you can shed tears underwater. Especially if it's salt water; the salt is an irritant; if it is sea water your eyes will tear. They will just not be visible, since tears are basically salt water and they will immediately mutually dissolve into the surrounding water.

There was an anime series that had this blooper: there was a teenager who was in a fluid-filled chamber, ahd he was crying and the tears were visible. (The fluid was supposed tobe oxygenated so he could breathe it, and in an earlier episode, a girl in the same kind of chamber was shown relaxing and releasing bubbles of trapped breath.)

But I don't think they would be visible in real life.

youd probably choke on the water.
think about it
tear comes down
eyes get squinty
mouth opens
nose automatically sniffles
breathing is uneven
yea you probably cant without getting hurt.

i think you'd drown, i saw on tv once this girl had her jaw wired shut and she was about to cry and the Dr told her not to because she'd suffocate. something about needing to breath through your mouth...
