You're Hired! Parents dream of good babysitters that think of things to do with their children before they arrive. Do you remember Mary Poppins. Of course you do. Well she had this great bag now you can't pull enourmous things out of a small bag like her because she's disney and you aren't but baby sitters with "fun bags" are still very in. Grab a bag and put some special things inside. Balloons, bubbles, popcorn, paint brushes, easy bake cookie dough, uncooked rice, uncooked pinto beans. and whatever other creative ideas you can think of that will fit in your bag. Here's a list of ideas with those ingredients. BALLOONS- toss back and forth in a circle whoever is holding it when the music stops is out. the one out gets to stop the music next time, the winner has to tell a joke. OR ballon volleyball, or keep it of the ground toss. Use markers to make balloon people.Balloon races, blow them up, don't tie them and everyone let them go at the same time. The ballon that flies away the farthest is the winner...there are endless ideas with balloons. Bubbles are great for any age you can do see how many don't pop when you blow them into a sink full of water. Just blow them, see who can blow the biggest (there's a trick to that ya know). Popcorn, it's yummy to eat and it's fun to throw up in the air and catch it in your mouth, i'm sure you can think of fun stuff to do with it. THE RICE AND BEANS-- music shakers. empty tupperware filled to different levels makes great shakers and drums. crate your own band and enjoy some silly kareoke. Glue and beans makes fun craft. Draw a picture, outline in glue and stick the beans or rice on. write your name is beans and glue and rice...glue and dried beans offers lots of fun. you can think of something too. Paintbrushes-paint with water, it's fun or use them to draw pretend picture pictures on your arms and try to guess what you drew. Then there is a favorite for all ages hide and seek. make fun rules like everyone seeks and there is only one hider...mix it up. okay that should get you started. Good luck sweetie, y'all will do great!!!!!!

Hopefully these little boys know what bedtime is and they aren't up until 1am. but here's some suggestions: why not make pudding? the instant- add milk kind of course. when I was younger, we used to finger "paint" with a small blob of pudding on a big piece of paper then have more for dessert in a bowl. Cleaning up pudding is SOOOO much easier than real paint.
Or if you are good at baking and the oven isn't too computerized and complicated and you get the parent's permission, make instant cookies from one of those tubes or a package then have them snuggle in pajamas and make it a party popcorn& juice or milk& cookies,whatever--while watching one of their favorite movies. a movie like Cars or toy story or show them a movie they haven't seen before. have they seen the rescuers down under, or Spirit the horse? or maybe the shaggy dog or that darn cat or the ugly Daschund. These of course are disney but there are lots of cute kid movies out there.
If you can do it safely play with bubbles for a few minutes.
play "volleyball" with a couple big blownup balloons. get a chair or something as a net and bounce the balloon back and forth or make up your own rules like hot potato. or you could have a "snowball" fight. wad up some kind of paper, old memo pads, yellow tablets, old phonebook, old homework, and so on enough to fill 2 grocery sacks or a bigger trash bag. give each boy a pile of "snowballs" then decide where the boundary lines are. make a sofa or chair the net so they can't cross into each other's territory then you pick one kid and your friend takes the other and then call 1-2-3 & let them go wild for a few minutes then pickup and do it again!
Ask the parent if they have a favorite book. or bring a cute book and ask the 6 year old if he'd like to hear a story. I bet the older one will sit there and listen too even if he doesn't act very interested.
Play playdough with them. I bought a 4 pack for a little less than $2 yesterday.
Play legos with them and be really enthusiastic or blocks or cars or trains or whatever they are into other than video games. I say no video games because they can do that when you aren't around, try and make this a different experience for them.
Do they like hotwheels? Do they collect Pokemon or YuGiOh? Perhaps you can take them a new item and tell them you have a surprise for afterdinner or whenever but only if they are good and take their bath or follow directions or whatever you want to say but I bet they will appreciate it.
if you don't think it will cause too much chaos or injury you could referee the boys having a pillow fight. definitely use a timer tho or keep an eye on the heavy impact. if you see they are getting rough switch to something quiet.
Make changing into their pjs a race if they haven't already changed by the time you get there. tell the first one who's finished gets to ________(fill in the space). Pick the movie, sit in the comfortable chair, gets the first bowl of ice cream or pudding or whatever. You get the picture, right?
Good luck. Be Safe and Have fun!

Let's see...you have to remember kids get board fast, so you always have to be ready with a new idea. Play cards, board games, things like hide and seek (it's more fun if you play hide and seek in the dark.) Do things with construction paper and glue and glitter, I don't know what you could make but it would keep them busy for at least a little while. Maybe you could read to them, and I know kids don't like to sit and listen so you could give them a snack while you read or say 'if you listen to the whole story you can have a special treat afterwards.'
You have to have imagination, and never let the ideas stop.

well at 6-8years old. Its best to be getting ready for bed not too long after 7pm. Exotically on a school night. 1st you should try a board game, that will take about an hour or so. Then tell them to get ready for bed, showers, brush teeth, lay out school clothes, straighten up and be ready for bed by 9pm. If no school then play games longer, or watch a movie too, but don't spend the entire night watching movies. Still send them to bed by 10 or so. The parents will appreciate that more and it will be easier on you too.

Well seeming how you are 13 and the hours are late, there isn't a lot to do but you could, play some games together or watch tv. Maybe if you have homework to do you could kill some time with that. Maybe even help with some of the cleaning that the parents didn't have time to do...maybe they will pay a little extra for that! :)

read a book, put together a make believe story and act it out. Put the kids to bed after 11:00, they should be tired. Kids love when you interact with them. Make cookies, write a story, play games, make it all about them!

If they have toy cars (which I bet they do), use things from around the house to make a course for the cars to drive through. They can drive the cars under open books, in between stacks of DVDs, etc... be creative!
