That scripture refers to telling someone they are going to hell, and only God can do that.
But, I can judge whether someone is doing something bad or not: God gave us brains you know. By your reasoning, no Christian could ever serve on a jury. That's just dumb.

We are not to judge if a person is living the way God wants them to. That only God has the right to say. We are only to share with them the Scriptures, and that God is real and that Christ was sacrificed in place of each one of us for our sins. Then beyond that we are not to say if one is living as God wishes him or her to live. God may wish for some to live differently than others, yet still follow His laws and commandments. God does not share everything or thought He has with man, He does not have to He is God. Why should we believe He wants all of us to live and be and worship Him exactly the same? He made each of us different for a reason. So we are not to judge others, but we are to make other aware of God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the teachings that one can find in the Bible. Which for some may mean other things than the way God allows you to read and see them. So God, does not want us to judge others, or place our standards upon others. This is because ours may very well be different from what He has deemed right for another person. In the end only He will know what was in our hearts and minds. Only He will know if we tried to follow His will and if we met the standards that He wanted us to meet. That is why God says do not judge other, lest you be judged. Meaning if we judge others by the standards that He has set forth for us, He may judge us against the standards that he had set forth for others. Meaning, do you want God to judge you by the standards he chose for you, or the ones He chose for Jesus or Muhammad or Abraham or King David? If that was the case then we would all be in a lot of trouble! So, let Him judge, and you should only worry about if you are meeting the standards that he has set in place for you. That’s why we are not to judge others.
*( I am sorry about this being so long, but this is the only way I can explain to you what and how I define the idea behind why we are not to judge others. )* =)

Actually Jesus is our judge. So if you follow Jesus you are allowed to judge. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is discernment of spirits, or knowing what is of God and what is not. In other words we are given the gift of knowing right from wrong. The bible says ,'there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus'. We are not instructed to condemn people , but to love them. That is what is in us. God is love. But we do judge their behavior and decide if it is right or wrong. Like a judge in court would decide if a person's behavior has violated the law and then give him probation,a fine, incarceration, or execution(hopefully not). We also judge remorse, sincerity, intent, restituition, and other factors. A jury is also allowed to deliberate these things. This happens all through society in work places, societies, election campaigns, families, and much more. Given the right information we make choices. With biblical instructions our judgements can be wise and sound and fair. Without it injustice may prevail(not a good choice)

There are 2 different kinds of judgement -- deciding for ourselves if a person is "worthy" of heaven or deserving of hell, basically putting ourselves in God's place. NEVER a good thing to do.
Then there is judgement as in evaluating, basing a decision or mindset on the facts as we see them, hopefully putting an honest view on things as well as we can based on what we know. THIS is okay, and something everyone does every day in many situations.
Some people in R&S (notice I didn't name anyone, that's not something I do) have difficulty separating the 2 kinds of judgement.
Have a great night!

Basically what it means is that regardless of the fact that I am Christian (Catholic), I am no better than any of my brothers and sisters...it is not up to me to pass judgement on others. Why? Because I am but a human, who sins, and I am simply not God, thus I have no right to be judgmental of others. The just Lord will be the fair judge of all.

Judgment is pretending you know what is good or evil. Extreme judgers often see things in black and white, no shades of gray.
Judgment usually comes with a superior holier than thou attitude. You are placing yourself higher than the person you are judging, while at the same time knocking them down.
Thats not to say that there shouldn't be a standard of behavior, it's more to do with how people are systematically singled out for not fitting into a rigid mold of how people should look/act/feel/think.
As long as the "offending" person is not causing harm, nobody has any business to tell them what is right for them, or to punish them for not conforming.

I just love how everyone knows what a Christian should be or is, yet any other time accuse them of being anything but a Christian. Judging means to announce sentence on someone, and no Christian I know ever does this. They just tell the truth, and certain people think they're being judged.

It seems that whenever one person confronts another person over an issue, the statement "Do not judge!" comes up. Christians are often accused of "judging" in contradiction to what the Bible says whenever they speak out against a sinful activity. However, that is not the meaning of the Scripture verses which state, "Do not judge." When Jesus told us not to judge (Matthew 7:1), He was telling us not to judge hypocritically. Matthew 7:2-5 declares, "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
In Matthew 7:2-5, Jesus warns against judging someone else for their sin when you yourself are sinning even worse. That is the kind of judging Jesus commanded us not to do. If a believer sees another believer sinning, it is their Christian duty to lovingly and respectfully confront the person with their sin (Matthew 18:15-17). This is not judging, but rather pointing out the truth in hope of bringing repentance in the other person (James 5:20). We are to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). We are to proclaim what God's Word says about sin. 2 Timothy 4:2 instructs us, "Preach the Word ; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction." We are to "judge" sin, but always with the goal of presenting the solution for sin and its consequences - the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

Christians are not to judge non belivers but believers on the other hand are another story. 1 Corinthians CH 5. Non believers are already judged by the Father for their unbelief.

I'm not the one who will be sending people to hell for what they have done, I don't decide (neither does anyone else) God does.
Christians however are to use discernment, judging good from that which is evil but not the people themselves.
