Women being ministers and preaching in church? I'm not trying to put down women who do so please don't get mad.
From what I have read in the bible, men are to be the leaders of the church.
Can you give me scripture please where it's ok for women to preach? My mom and I disagree on this subject.
Thank you and God Bless :)

Jaime, I agree. I think that women have much to give in service to their church without being in the pulpit. It could be my old fashioned upbringing. I now attend a modern Non denominational church but I still get my answers from the bible.

According to the bible Deborah was given leadership because no one stepped forward when leadership was needed. The great men had been killed.

George that's a good argument (discussion). Am I going to have to tell my mom she is right?

I agree with GallileeO and George. I'll add Scripture to that--

"For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither MALE nor FEMALE; for you are ALL ONE in Christ Jesus."----Galations 4:26-28

During the times in which the Bible was written, women could not do many things. Societal rules and expectations, dictated a man's place and a woman's place. In fact, if we look at the story of the "Woman at the well," we know that she could not get her water until after the Jewish women had gotten theirs. When she came, to get water, Jesus was waiting, alone. When he asked her for a drink, it startled her that a Jewish man would ask for water from a non-Jewish woman! So, you see, Jesus went beyond what society said was okay and what HE knew was best! This woman, at the well, went away knowing, understanding, that indeed, this "rabbi", was the Messiah!

Then, there is Anna, the prophetess who was at the temple when Jesus was a baby. She recognized the Christ child, as did Simeon.

Women have always had roles in the Bible which are both great and small. Fact is, God can use us all, if we are willing. I have also been told that during WW11, that many women held church services as so many men were gone (heresay).

So, I think men and women need to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit and use DISCERNMENT.

I am very proud to be blessed as a strong Christian woman. I am active in Christ's Church, I implemented a Prison Ministry Program and serve on 4 boards/committees. However, I realize I do not belong in the pulpit. That is a men's club, and I would not be serving my Lord by attempting to preach. Women are too much of a distraction to men to deliver the Lords word in Service. Dont get me wrong, I'm happy to have the right to vote and all, but even at 25, my Christian views overshadow the modern views of my Savior-less counterparts. Please dont send me hatemail over this one!!

Jesus' Blessings to You and Yours

God has ordained that only men are to serve in positions of spiritual teaching authority in the church. This is not because men are necessarily better teachers, or because women are inferior or less intelligent (which is not the case). It is simply the way God designed the church to function. Men are to set the example in spiritual leadership – in their lives and through their words. Women are to take a less authoritative role. Women are encouraged to teach other women (Titus 2:3-5). The Bible also does not restrict women from teaching children. The only activity women are restricted from is teaching or having spiritual authority over men. This logically would include women serving as pastors / preachers. This does not make women less important, by any means, but rather gives them a ministry focus more in agreement with how God has gifted them.

I have read all of your answers, and I have to disagree with all of them.
most of the teaching that is quoted was by Paul, who was brought up under the Law. and most of the scripture are taken out of context, and out of the situation of the time.
after the resurrection of Jesus the very first person that he sent to tell the Good New, was Mary, a Woman.
in the scripture that a woman should be subject to her own Husband, it does not mean a woman should be subject to men.
Aquila and Priscilla were both minister recognized but Paul.
Mary the mother of Mark was holding church in her home,
when peter was freed from prison.
Paul told Timothy to greet Lois, and Eunice His fellow ministers.
and some of the most anointed minister that I have listened to were women.
if they at ministering under the anointing of God then who are we to Judge their right to minister?

EDIT: apparently GailleeO was writing at the same time as I was, so I do not disagree with all of your answer.
I think she is right on.

I do not think it is Biblical.

“Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak: but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also says the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord” (1 Cor. 14:34-37).

How could a woman possibly be a pastor when she is forbidden to teach or to have any authority over men? Women can only be pastors if they openly disobey the Bible’s teaching.

The image of God receives all that God gives and there are no limits or boundaries. A woman is also the image.

Look up in the Bible and see who Deborah was and who were the first people to see Jesus come from the tomb. That should answer your question.

Jesus told his 12 diciples to go out and preach the world, but he did have women followers.... but specifically told men to. if women really want to serve God and preach, sisters and nuns are a way for women, but Jesus said for men to be preists
