That was the stupidest thing I've seen in my life. A table full of airsoft guns who the police claim was the cache of a lifetime. But all the anti-gun idiots will ignore that only one gun on the table was real and that photo will be used in anti-gun propaganda for years to come. Never mind that they claimed that there was a 9mm assault weapon involved...How the hell can a 9mm rifle be considered an assault weapon? 9mm is hardly a military rifle caliber. Gotta love the sensationalizing liberal media...

Another example of a big build up in place of a real story. The media is great at that. Why do they not cover the reconstruction of Iraq by contractors? Because they think that it is boring. They think all America wants is turmoil, bloodshed, anguish conspiracy. Good deeds, positive progress is boring, and doesn't sell. Give them a story where a troop kills a gun-toting 16 year old Iraqi with a c-4 explosive vest on running for an inspection point, and after numerous call to stop, he ends up getting shot. What will the media report? That Americans are murdering children. Even if they had it all on film, do you think they would put in the part where the troops called for him to halt? Probably not. Of course this is a made up example, but I can assure you, that is the mind set of the media, on the most part. How many times have we seen it? Numerous.
So, why would they not act like that when reporting on the AKs.

The media has no interest in facts... or even representing the facts.

The media is only interested in ratings. If they can make something sensational, lurid, extremely bad, or terribly gory or terrifying... if it bleeds, it leads...

The basic moronic American mind buys the bull stuff. They read tabloids. They watch "reality" shows and think they're real. They know more about actors than what's going on in the real world. So they watch the stuff. That increases ratings. Ratings sell advertising. Advertising is what makes them money. Don't believe me How much does the AFL pay the media for a season? Now... how much does a minute of advertising during the Super Bowl make the media? And, nhow many minutes of advertising do they sell?

It used to be that you would get 28 minutes of news and a couple minutes of advertising. An advertisement might be "This program was brought to you by (sponsor's name) in the hope you will purchase our product."

Today there's about 20 minutes of advertising broken by 10 minutes of news... or quasi-news.

I don't know the exact event of showing plastic AK's, but as a 2 time veteran of Iraq and Bosnia I can assure you that they have an agenda and will go to any length to accomplish their own missions. The media I know never reports the facts only their spin on the facts. One day they are war bashing the next they promote the war. Whatever sales stories is the media's goal. I never watch News like CNN because they rarely even report half the truth.

Hallo Marco R, with regards 9mm weapons, I believe a few years back there was a version of the m.16 developed for use with the standard 9mm round.

The weapon was basically reworked to take the standard 9mm with machine-gun mag holding 36 rounds and it had a long barrel without a flash eliminator.

It was intended to be used by Police and Swat units as a weapon that could be used in a hostage situation as the 9mm fired from a longer weapon such as the m.16 body would achieve more accuracy but the 9mm would be less lethal to hostages who could be in close proximity to the perpetrator of the crime.

You are obviously referring to the story out of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania where the arms cache of a 14-year old was seized. One of the weapons was a 9-MM assault rifle. The other rifles were air rifles. Those are real as well. My younger son was shot in the eye with one years ago and had to undergo delicate surgery to save the eye. But, all of the reports I read and the videos I viewed on Philadelphia's CBS news affiliate clearly pointed out that the air rifles were exactly that.
Now comes the problem. Let us say that this young man decided to wield that plastic weapon and point it at some law enforcement officer responding to that high school. By your assertion the officer should know the weapon is only a plastic air rifle and really not a threat. Good luck thinking that!

You don't suppose they'd intentionally inflame the paranoia of the average ignorant or misinformed American do you? I mean, it's not like they have a longstanding reputation for pushing an anti-gun agenda or anything.
