Is it dangerous to put your car remote (the one that unlocks your doors) under your chin to unlock/lock your car?

I do it because it extends the range of the remote. I don't know how but it just does!

Shouldn't be though if it is working properly it shouldn't need the range to be extended. The brain cancer crap that XXXMAGIC said is false, keyless entry remotes and mobile phones do not cause brain cancer (doesn't stop idiots believing it does though), the dangers of mobile phones is that people talk on them while driving, get distracted and crash.

As for why it might extend the range, antenna patterns and the like are a bit of an art so it could be that the receiving antenna in the car is oriented such that it is a bit more sensitive to signals coming from higher up.

There might also be less multipath.

It's dangerous the same as talkin' on the cell phone (brain cancer issue) ;P... You're right 'bout extending it's range. If you touch i.e. your head with remote tryin' to open/lock your car you gonna be able to do it from longer distance. I belive the human body works like some sort of antenna with booster.

You can push the button with your chin that way? How did you discover this???? I can't believe that it would be dangerouse, but I also can't believe it extends the range.

If you fall and the remote severs your jugular (a blood vessel in your neck), you can die.
