Did you know that a United States Air Force B52 bomber's electrical generators output, if converted to 220 volts and 60 HZ, would produce enough power to provide electricity to the eastern half of North Carolina. I can produce facts all day but what do they prove? Nothing.
A C5A can hold 1,000.000 ping pong balls or 7 greyhound buses. One C5A could have done the entire Berlin Airlift by itself. You want more statistics?
I do not see the point of your question.

yes the Shuttle was always inefficient, even compared to its predecessors. It if far from economical to propel a glider into space but this was insisted on by the then US military that feared having to rescue a capsule in foreign waters. Virgin galactic barley leaves the atmosphere though.

No, I didn't know that, but considering how many starving children could be fed with the amount of money spent on Shuttle Launches, I think I'll forward my next "beg" letter to NASA.
Really, what's the point? It's a waste of money and energy.

So if we strap the shuttle to NYC and fire up the engines we'll save all that energy? Hooray for the space program!!!

Yes - I do.
Did you know that the war in Iraq has wasted over half a Trillion dollars?
Enough money to provide housing for all of our homeless people AND provide health care for all Americans?
Now THAT is a waste of energy.

Onceisen, space tourists pay their own way and no taxpayer money is used, except in infrastructure, which is no differant than Fedex using the highway system.
