He definately hit the high points on what most people say... It's always a toss up between The King, The Intimidator, and Gordon (have a nickname?) but I did like his mentions of other drivers that aren't usually mentioned like on ESPN where almost 3/4 are from the early 50's/60's.

I think Dicky Craven well I'm sorry I can't say one good thing about this person except it's been nice not hearing his name for a few years. What a waste of a person breathing good air.

I got the just of the article from my daughter and she said she hates ricky craven more than ever so I figure seeing as she was raised around the racing world and 26 years old this might be her last article she tries to read from nobodies.

I read how you people are getting fired up on here, so no need.

Great article! He made great arguments for many drivers, My opinion is that NASCAR today is so much more competitive than it has ever been, 15 years ago you might have had 2 or 3 drivers that won consistantly, today the field consist of 20 to 25 drivers that have a great chance to win every week. If you can be consistantly great and win multiple championships in todays NASCAR then you should be considered one of the best ever. Gordon is in that catagory.

I never consider anything by Ricky Craven to be the best source of information..he never drove against David Pearson,Buck Baker, Junior Johnson, Fred Lorenzen, Curtis Turner, Bobby Allison, Marvin Panch. Cale Yarbrough...okay he did drive with Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt Sr, Jeff Gordon, check Ricky Craven's stat's...how many Nascar Championship's did he win...Sorry Ricky...yeah you won a few races..Ricky its just your opinion....Definitely not mine...Dale Sr is the late and the greatest...R.I.P Dale Sr..

It's a gutsy call Craven made, and I admire him for it. I know it goes against popular opinion among the fan base.

I guess what i didnt get out of it was .........the answer. We all can see why those guys are candidates, but David pearson should be in there...Fred Lorenzen,Junior Johnson,Ned Jarrett, are some that can be added.

I guess numbers wise with all the records that Richard Petty has, will be hard to dispute.
