I have had this problem since the day I was born. I remember when I was a child and used to halucinate spiders crawling on to my bed. Every time I see a horror movie commercial I get so scared and start seeing the characters from the movie in my window and hearing footsteps. I get at most 3 hours of sleep a night and as a result I have deep, sunken circles under my eyes. Please help me!!!!!! ONLY long answers please.... how do you cope with fear and what are some things I can do to distract myself? PLEASE I've gone through this for 13 years and I'm SICK of living in fear..... PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Have you ever been to a psychiatrist? Are you taking any meds? Your symptoms need to be treated by a psychiatrist and counseling. They can help you get 8 hours of sleep with medication. A good counselor can help you with your fears.
(If you are currently, or have been, to a psychiatrist or counselor, you might want to look around for another one.)

Do go to your Dr. ask for a referral for counseling and a psychiatrist to help you with medication.

Try to think on your own of modifications that are simple.
Consider wearing a full-body blanket sleeper with the zipper up the front, then wear a ski-hat on your head -- this will physically protect you from bugs and spiders.
Consider getting a mosquito net to hang over your bed. (Pier 1 and Cost Plus carry them regularly)

A useful technique we used with our handicapped students -- Sit down and write a story of a SUCCESSFUL night where
A) you send the fear away
B) you tuck yourself under the protective net (that nothing fearful can penetrate)
C) You can rest peacefully
D) You can sleep
E) In the morning you awaken in light-rested-safey.

Every night before getting into bed, you read this story aloud to yourself. The more positive nights you experience the more confident you can be that what you read is true.

I hate to sau it but therapy might help you, Also accupuncture relaxes you and can help with fears like that. Always try to stay relaxed and don't think about thinks in bed before falliing asleep. Just close your eyes and drift away. Take deep breaths!
Hope This Helps!

That is why God sent his son to teach us to trust in him....He walked on water...right? He wants you to keep your eyes on him and you can walk on water too....but you will sink if you get your eyes off him......
By you walking on water I mean this.....you will be able to be strong in this life, Jesus just wants us to keep our eyes on him......then we can do the impossible......This life is hard, many disappointments but Jesus is there to console us....we just have to have faith as the grain of a mustard seed....so that does not require much. Jesus said he would never leave me and that he would not fail me and he has not.....Put him in charge of your life and he will guide you all the way.....We enter heaven through many sorrows the bible says...but Jesus is walking right by my side to the end...til I'm home with him.....Ask and he will answer.....when you repent of sin and ask him for what you want he will give it to you according to his will for you and what will be best for you.....Jesus is my drug, my joy, my happiness my anchor, my morning star, he strength, my fortress, he is my everything.....
