EG&G is the main defense contractor there, probably the BOS (Base Operating Services) contractor. They have a private terminal at the Vegas airport for employees to fly the daily shuttle to Area 51. Wackenhut subcontracts with EG&G to provide security.

Check out their website for job openings. www.egginc.com (only 3 openings in Vegas listed)

ALL POSITIONS require a ts/sci ssbi, which is a top secret with a single scope background investigation.

JT3 in Nevada would be the company to apply to. The TS/SSBI is a roaring pain to go through and it can take anywhere from 6 months to 3 years to complete. You can be sent to your job assignment without the T.S. clearance but your access to information and where you can go unescorted is very limited. Once the T.S. clearance is received, you can pretty much go wherever necessary to perform your job duties. JT3 is constantly looking for experienced electronic technicians and you don't have to wait for them to call you. Put your resume on one of those "job shopping" sites (like Monster) and also apply at jt3.com.

If you have anything in your past that you think might be questionable, be aware that the F.B.I. and other law enforcement agencies do a thorough background check, including family, neighbors and former employers. You are also given a polygraph test AND have a face-to-face with an F.B.I. special agent.

Well "Area 51" doesn't exist. That's a Bureau of Land Management designation NOT the DoD's. The DoD designation is R4805 (R for "Restricted Area").
It's a test facility, so the "easiest" way would be to be a contractor with a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) clearance, working in a company that has positions at the facility (and no, they aren't going to tell you straight up). You would also have to have a skill set that's of use to the companies on contract.
There's also military folks up there as well, again you'd have to have a: the skill level/rank b: the clearance(s) c: be assignment eligible. The majority of folks there aren't working projects; they are support staff like Security, IT/Communications, Janitorial staff, logistics etc.
Working secret squirrel stuff ain't as exciting as Tom Clancy makes it out to be. You are really restricted to what you can tell your significant other/friends, have travel restrictions, and for "Area 51", the additional family strain of being in the middle of the desert for either days at a time, or commuting every day (which works out to about 4 hours).

Land on the Pentagon in a space ship. Area 51 has closed and is now somewhere deeper in the desert. You can use Google Earth and see it is deserted.

Or is it?!?!?!?!?

By having to ask here, you have ruled out any possibility of you or your decedents from ever getting a job there with the Men in Black.

Fly your little spaceship there, park it in one of the hangars. Find their HR office and let them know you would like to apply for the position of "Test Subject."
