or if you find inconsistency from one authority to another, do you have to stand up and be a witness against false doctrine, even if it means being called apostate or "anti"?

It's not who is right or wrong....it's what is right or wrong.

The bible is the only truth. The canon which has not been changed by man. The king james version or even the New King James Version. There are others but a catholic bible should not be read due to inconsistancies and added books.

What issues seem to be "wrong" in your eyes?....for there are many with false doctrine.

Here are some scriptures to think about.....

MT 7:15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

MT 24:10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,

MT 24:11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.

MT 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--if that were possible.

2COR 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.

GAL 2:4 This matter arose because some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves.

1TI 1:3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer

1TI 6:3-4 If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing.

2PE 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.

1JN 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1JN 4:2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God...

I hope these will help you make some desicions on what to do...Pray and ask God to give you direction. God's timing is perfect.

I guess if you are in a situation where you have to stand up for something, make sure you believe what you are saying. If you are going to denounce something, understand the consequences before going out on a limb.

I am trying to be a practising Catholic. I asked my priest if I had to agree with what the Pope said to remain a "good" Catholic. He said I didn't have to agree, but what the Pope says goes. Personally, myself, I don't feel I have to believe what I am taught. But if I am going to be in the game, I have to play by the rules.

I don't believe a lot of other things I was taught. Make an informed decision or choice and you will be fine ... speaking with no back-up will only make you sound foolish.

Brilliant question.

You need to question what you believe. Further truths may reveal themselves to you, even if it sounds different from the accepted norm. When you find inconsistency, mark them up, compare and discuss. Religion is not as narrow as it used to be back in the old days. Hold your discussions not in forums or chatrooms, but in public, with level-minded people who really know their stuff, not some half-baked, self-righteous minds who are bent on releasing their pent-up tensions.

I have grown up to realize my own divinity and that we all are in possession of a soul and that this the higher self that we all share alike and that we are all on a long evolutionary journey towards becoming very highly spiritual beings. As it stand now this will take a very long time to be achieved as evolutionary development moves very slowly.

I never believe what is popular, taught for long periods or found in religious books, I believe what is true in my heart of hearts and stands logical in the face of life and common universal knowledge.

Cute. Of course if someone finds something to be untrue, in their opinion, they should first, Do research to make sure that what they do believe is correct, and what they feel is incorrect truly is, then go from there.

You should definitely stand up for what you believe in. That, of coarse, doesn't mean putting others down in the process. I think we, as humans, tend to get caught up in who's "right" and loose sight of what we are called to do, and that is to love. :)

Yep....if you are being taught by YAHSHUA, and Him alone, then you will see how OPPOSITE things are right now. And if He calls you to stand up, do it.
That's from the 'been there, doing that' department.

Once you learn something is founded on "make believe", there is no longer any reason to follow along. Unless you want to look foolish too.
