dear morning star
you know nothing about me at all,the fact is my son posed this question and typed it in his usual 80 w.p.m. manner. i am however amused by the fact that most people in r&s would rather concentrate their efforts on typos and personal attacks than addressing the issue put forth.

I take it you're Kristjun fundumentulist, who is concerned she's being led from away Jeezus (sorry, I don't like the arrogant spellings based on ancient Greek). Anyway, I'm sure you could find very cheap books on Wicca, including some bashing it.

What you need to do is learn from her what Wicca means to her and why she's into it, not fish for anyway to bash her beliefs. Try to understand and reason, and accept if you don't agree -- if you attack and she's serious you'll most likely inspire resentment and rebellion rather than convince her of anything.

At 13 she may be just exploring, or trying to be different -- or maybe not and she's serious about it -- only talking to her can reveal the truth of that, and only time can tell where it leads.

If she want to explore Wicca maybe you should buy her some very serious Wiccan books. I am not of that faith but I do know a little about it. If she does follow the religion congrats ,you've got a niece who respects nature, is in tune with her emotions, and has an utmost respect for life. It's not about witches. It is a form of paganism. gues what else is? The easter bunny, and the X-mas tree. these symbols were used to atract pagans to christianity.because the winter solstice is celebrated and the pine tree is a symbol of winter. The bunny is a symbol of rebirth.

1. Depending on how old your niece is...it really is none of your business what she does.
2. Wicca is the study of nature...which "God" created.
3. As long as she is not studying "black magic" i would let her be.
4. My 15yr old daughter is Wicca. I am a Christian. I would rather her find her own religious beliefs than to have someone cram them down her throat. All that does is make someone resent what you are trying to tell them. Why don't you do a little research on your own, and then maybe you can accept your niece for who she chooses to be?
5. One of the major Wicca beliefs is "Harm None." Nothing anybody does can harm anyone else in any way, or it comes back on them three times worse.

You Sir. Fail at life! Here.. W-I-C-C-A. W-I-C-C-A-N-S. Yes, lovely.. sadly. You need to go back to 3rd grade spelling where they teach you to look up words. Ok, one.. Your question has no detail, you got nothing on what you are trying to say. Two, take time to research a few Wiccan sites and you see that you are only making up thinks about Witchcraft that aren't true.. THEN THERE IS THE FACT.. That you are being an idiot. Why? Because you are trying to say ' she thinks she is one. ' Ok, ok.. Children are people, humans. They have minds too! Just like you and me. They should be able to decide what they want to be. Religion is just like a job, almost. The only difference is that you don't get paied and it makes you happy. Now please, shut up, turn off your computer, and read a book.

How do you know she isn't? I think most of these people answered the way I would. As for the two who had really low scores, no we don't worship the Christian made Devil! Never have and never will! Also, we work "magic" through energy manipulation. At one time science was considered magic too! We are healers, teachers and councilors. We worship a multifaceted Deity! You need to research the subject before dissing it!

You come to R&S with a request for information on how to "prove" a group is wrong, and you are appalled at the number of angry responses by people in that group? Let me rephrase my response. Your family (especially your niece) needs to protect themselves from your general ignorance, hatred and bigotry. I'm hoping your niece has the power and the courage to continue listening to herself. And I'm hoping if you are truly a spiritual person and truly do love her that you'll actually listen to what she's saying, do a little bit of research, and try to understand that the Path she is exploring is a valid Path with a lot of value. We don't believe in devils, we don't perform blood sacrifices, none of the Hollywood nonsense is true.

Here. Educate yourself.

A relatively objective (non-Wiccan) set of articles on what Wiccans do and believe:

http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchcra.htm

Another useful article:

http://www.religionfacts.com/neopaganism/paths/wicca.htm

A good site by Wiccans:

http://wicca.timerift.net

And the US Army Chaplains Handbook excerpt on Wicca:

http://www.religioustolerance.org/wic_usbk.htm

And my Five Reasons Why Wiccans Are Right:

1) We are accepting and tolerant of other faiths.
2) We honor women equally with men -- women can be Priestesses of the faith, just as men can be Priests.
3) Did I mention that we honor women, and the Divine Feminine?
4) We value the Earth we live on and most Wiccans take steps to take care of it (recycling, for example).
5) We have a single "commandment": "If you harm none, do what you will". If more religions followed that simple creed, what a kinder and better place this world would be...

(And that's just off the top of my head.)

Well first of all you will need to teach her how to spell Wiccan properly.

And niece as well.

What makes you think the religion is wrong. How can you speak about what you know nothing about?

Why don't you do a bit of research first before you judge something.

By the way we don't 'believe' that we can cast spells, and perform magick...we know that we can.

I can't give you any, as I'm not familiar with Wicca, but if you'd like, I could supply with a list of ten reasons why Christianity is wrong instead. Are you sure ten will be enough?I have more.
