with someone of the opposite sex and the both of you really had a lot in common and felt a certain connection with them how long would you or should you wait before telling them that you liked them?

I would analyze whether this was an awesome friendship or a romantic relationship in the making. When I was sure of the direction, I would speak up. But be ready for the possible fallout of the other person being in the friend mode.

This is what happened to me with a guy. I wanted to make sure that I really actually had feelings for him and it wasn't just a small crush because I knew it could have ruined our friendship. I actually waited about 6 months to tell him, even though by that time I could tell he also had feelings for me. When I told him, it felt so good for both of us to finally get it out!
Well, that was 5 years ago, and now we've been happily married for 3 1/2 years!
Of course that might not happen, but I'm just saying that I'm glad I did wait to tell him how I felt, because now he's my husband and still my best friend.

... that's a tough question. I'm expecting what causes the indecision as to timing is fear of rejection. But then, you have to out-weigh your fears with the possibilty of something developing w/ that person. how are they going to know you like them, if you never tell them?
maybe a few months, idk..... maybe a few weeks, it depends on the person really. you should probably try to talk to them a bit, maybe strike up an idle conversation, and slip that idea in there gently, see how they respond. maybe they like you too? It does happen sometimes. If they don't, well it's not the end of the world.
Though good luck to you. I don't think i've ever told anyone i liked them, until they told me first..... but then again, most of my guy friends, were just friends, and had girlfriends that were very nice i thought.
Maybe i shouldn't've answered lol, i'm not much of an "omg isn't he so dreamy and i want him even if he's dating, type person, nor am i jealous type person, (though you didnt ask that lol) and.... i havent met too many people that i've liked or had a little crush on LOL........ so, maybe i'm of no help here LOL, but...... i thought i'd give my input. hope it was somewhat helpful!

I would only tell them if I felt that they also had those feelings and that the relationship would work. Otherwise, why risk the friendship?
This is a lesson I've learned the hard way. I wish he could still be my friend, but all the mess of the relationship makes it quite hard.

if knowing that it's there it's not a wait this is it you don't even need to ask they will tell you if they do. men have to make the move if the women make the move any men will say yes just to get to the pants not the points.

Don't wait any longer and tell me how you feel and even if they aren't interested back in the same way, don't worry there's plenty more fish in the sea where that one came from.

when your talking to him or her ask them a word that best describes you and see what they say. if he or she was hinting that they like you then that would probably be a good time to tell them. it they dont like you back in the same way don't let it hurt your friendship.
