I am trying to apply for an internship at Rockwell Collins (an aerospace tech company). I know a manager there, and I asked him if he could post an opening on the Rockwell website. Only problem is that I emailed him about 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything back. I tried calling his number for his work phone and haven't gotten him either. What should I try next? I really am interested in this job, I would be making $7 an hour, and it is a career field that I am interested in.

Call him, email him and after that leave him alone. He is a busy guy and it is not his priority to get you a job. There are other things going on that have to occur.

For instance, if they hire you and do not advertise the position, it can get them in trouble with the US Dept of Labor. So, they have to jump through the legal hoops to open the position and get you hired.

What if a minority woman were to apply for the position and be turned down. In today's climate, it is enough to bring in a lawsuit accusing them of discrimination.

Here is the best way to get in contact with him: get on their website and find out who his assistant (secretary) is. If you can't find out online when call the company and ask who his secretary is and speak to her directly or leave her a message. I am a legal assistant and my bosses are extremely busy and so much so that most people have learned to go through me first to try to get their business to leave important messages. good luck!!!

Try leaving him a message on his voicemail.
You could also try contacting him via regular mail. Write him a letter explaining your qualifications and why you are interested in the internship.

Good Luck!!
