You usually have to be married before they will give you quarters to share.

As for your first question. It all depends on the base. The Air Force generally has the best quarters in the military, so on most bases everyone has the own apartment type room in the barracks.

Though you may still get a barracks where you have to share a bathroom or have a room mate.

When I was in the Army back in 1998, I was on an Air Force base temporarly, I was an E-3 and I had my own apartment type, but had a connecting bathroom with someone.

You will not have the opportunity to have your own place in Basic and Tech school (obvious, right?) BUT, when you get to your duty location, it'll depend on base policy. I WILL ADVISE you not to "play house" by having some skirt move in with you! YOU ARE USAF NOW! That means Bachelorhood redefined. You are a pup but honestly, don't get married until after 35 or so! Make your parents AND YOURSELF PROUD of something more than securing a piece of tail early in life...it'll be there later too!...TRUST ME! Best wishes in your USAF adventure!

Until you finish training you will be in barracks. No they won't give you a place just cause your girl friend wants to move in with you. Even married you would be on a waiting list for post housing. You can always get an off post place but you will be responsible for all the bills associated with it.

No, you will probably share a dorm room with another Airman.

If you are A1C or Sra, then you will be given your own room or given BAQ and BAS which will allow you the necessary funds to get an apartment. Rank has its privileges.

You live in the dorm unless your married, you get your own and are not allowed to have anyone stay with you. You can get your own place after a while but I would recommend staying in the dorms because it is so much cheaper.

no matter what your rank the military doesnt recognize a girlfriend as a spouse.....so even if youlive off base they wont provide money for her to live only you. and depending on the base you will have to be E3 or E4 usualy before you can get BAH to live off base. If you get single rate bah and live off base your girlfriend can live with you....if you live on base she can not stay with you at all until your married.

Yep!, Hon, you'll have your own place "in line", at the barber, in your bunk, etc. Not really, just kidding! You will live in a barracks with a barracks Sargent who will bark orders at you 24/7, sometimes even in your sleep! LOL. Don't crap your pants now, but latrine call is only on schedule as is chow call, etc. You will live with 25-30 young men in one room in bunk beds that must be kept tight enough to bounce a quarter off of! Everyday you must make that bed and make it tight or if the barracks Sargent sees it looking loose he will undo it and call you back to make it until it looks like a trampoline and he knows you can make it the right way next time. No she cannot come and live on base with you, nor can you maintain an apartment anywhere near base with her or anyone else. You will not get off base anytime except on your fourth or fifth week with "Special Liberty" given to airmen who deserve it by excelling in their studies. So do your best if you want an 8 hour pass to leave base and go to town.

Junior enlisted (first-termers) are generally required to live in the barracks/dormitory unless they are married. You may or may not have a roommate, depending on the facilities at your base.

You mean it never occurred to you to ask a recruiter about these things before signing up?
