Deuteronomy 4:2

Do not add to the Word that I tell you, and do not take away from it. Keep the Laws of the Lord your God which I tell you.

John 3:16 WAS ADDED TO THE BIBLE, that's John speaking not GOD, that verse clearly breaks this direct Order from God.

Amen to HIS WORD. SO, who added the word 'trinity'? or the word 'RAPTURE'?
Oh, how far man has strayed.

Deuteronomy 4:2

"Do not add to the Word that I tell you, and do not take away from it. Keep the Laws of the Lord your God which I tell you."

The above quote is the very essence of 'taking away from' and 'adding to the Word.'

In nearly 7000 places in scripture the personal name of God is written in the existing Bible text.

And in nearly 7000 places it has been taken away by most "Christian" Bible translators and "Lord" or "LORD" has been added in its place.

That name is YHWH ('Yahweh' or 'Jehovah' in English transliteration) and it has a meaning similar to "He Who Will Become," but nothing even close to "LorD"!

It will be easier for you to understand if you don't take this out of context AND that you use the KJV - not one of the modern fabrications decided by committee...

Deut. 4:1-2

1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

That was given to the Israelites after they left Egypt. It's referring to the Mosaic laws.

Christ fulfilled the law of Moses when he became the ultimate sacrifice for us. This is a perfect example of living scripture. When this was written, Christ's arrival was still to come.

Hope this helps!! :)

Well, this is tough. I take it to mean scripture should be our answer, not our personal opinions about scripture. It is very hard not to answer with what we think the answer is, or what we think scripture means.

We can all quote John 3:16, for instance, but shouldn't the words speak for themselves? Do I need to tell you what it means? No, I should let God's word speak to your heart in a way unique to you.

Am I able to do that all the time? No way, I am a flawed and sinful human. But, I promise you, that I will try.

What that really means is....

To be honest, I think we all do this to a certain extent, but it's because someone did the same before us and led us in that direction. It's called denominationalism. There are very convincing arguments that contradict very convincing arguments on almost every aspect of Christianity. We need to be very careful in our studies, but most of us are too lazy to do that so what we end up with is 2000 different denominations.

B,
The same commend exists in the Book of Revelation and for that reason, I follow this command. The New Testament is our New Law and is to be followed by Christians. Have a wonderful week!
Thanks,

I try to do my very best. I love the Lord more than anything and try to reflect Him in all I do. His Words are precious and I dare not change, add, or take away anything that He has established or written. I have too much respect for Him. His Word is supreme and I am living to attain perfection someday. I look forward to that day !!

(Deu 4:2) You shall not add to the Word which I command you, neither shall you take away from it, so that you may keep the commands of Jehovah your God which I command you.

YES.... I .. do..... And ... LUKE 6:46 ... & ..... James 1:22.... & ........

(John 15:10) If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.

PERHAPS..... They DO NOT KNOW..... THIS.....!

(Isaiah 8:20) To the Law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because no light is in them.

Thanks, RR

Thank GOD I converted to Islam directly from Judaism! I never stumbled on the Christian rock before; as it sounded both irrational and illogical!

Ever heard the trinity mentioned in the Torah.

Ever heard that GOD shall incarnated HIMSELF and die on the cross for our salvation???!!

...And so on!

Amen! This is also said in Proverbs and Revelation says do not add to that book-- God tells us not to add to His words lest He rebuke us and call us liars! (That is in Proverbs)

There are other relegions out there who have added to His book. It is sad to see that happen, and I pray they wake up and see the truth of God's word!
