Prophets are, in simple terms, God's 'mouthpieces'. His judgements and directions are sent through them. When He is about to act, He sends them to edify believers and call people to repentence.

A Prophet of God is some one call by God to lead teach and testify of God and Jesus Christ. They were chosen in heaven before the spirit children of God came down to earth.
