Religion is emotionally based. People who believe in it have a deep emotional investment in it.
Therefore, anything that seems to offer an alternative view provokes a strong emotional response.
Though, really, aliens? You can't come up with anything better than that? I might have given you a thumbs down just for offering such a far-fetched idea. Religion can be much more readily explained by human nature.

That which is of human flesh is of this world by definition (being human).
Jesus has come in the flesh the Bible says.
Jesus is human in every sense.
Jesus is the son of God.
That which is born directly from God is also God as God in infinite and universal and eternal.
Jesus is God.
Therefore God is not alien.
Jesus was called emanual which is being interpreted God with us.
(in Hebrew ayin mem om "with", -nu suffix meaning "us", al "God", 'om + anu + al = 'omanual ^ emanual)
