Sounds very common to me.
When a person blames others is because the person is full of insecurity and can't accept or handle his own errors or truths.

Well I know a couple of poster boys for this question. My nephew 17 and my son 15 are ''I didn’t do nothin" boys. First I correct their English because it is a pet peeve with me and I am legally allowed to and then I tell them that usually that would be the problem; doing nothing. They take credit for nothing, it is never their fault, and (I know one other person like this also).
Nothing is ever their fault. And so it is either no ones fault or the fault of someone who is not them. I have been trying to think of a female like this but I moved 3500 miles in the beginning of the year and I have not gotten close to any women down here yet. I am sure though that they are out there also, (don’t want to be blatantly sexist anyhow).
It infuriates me to no end, completely out of frustration. They are like talking to a brick wall. I have learned when any of them take that stance that there is nothing more to be said. I wash my hands of it and walk away, whatever. And that is how I exactly feel, like walking away but they are teens (mostly) and in my custody so I have to attempt to teach them to own up to their crap so that they can change what needs to be changed.
Kid Brag***my son is learning....I think...lol...it is probably a wool thing with me but what the heck.......and maybe not compassion but sympathy at least. I do feel sorry for people when nothing is their ‘fault’ nor are they responsible for whatever it is. Cant change what is someone else’s to change. I am responsible for my actions......poorly some of the time, but I try to make amends for my reckless, thoughtless behavior (lol) and I am responsible for changing them.

I don't like it a bit. I assume we've all been through some tough times and have overcome them because we took the bull by the horns and handled it. I strongly believe I am the master of my own destiny. I understand there may be obstacles along the way but how I choose to overcome them determines the end result.
When she starts complaining, you could as her what SHE is going to do to fix/change it.

It makes me feel angry, especially if they are blaming me, but I too have done that and understand that when we are in denial there is usually alot of fear behind it. My sister is this way. She is an addict and alcoholic and blames all of us for her being so. She did have a tough childhood...our mother was mentally ill...she is too afraid to face the damage that was done to her and heal. I feel sad for her that she cannot muster the courage to quit using and get help.

it really frustrates me...i have a relative or two like that.
a mature person accepts responsibility for their actions.
i tend to be rather blunt sometimes, and my family knows that if they ask me a question i'm going to tell them the truth.
sometimes they don't ask, because they don't want to hear what they know i will say. it's very hard not to smack them upside the head and say it's you're own fault.
oh, well...
bright blessings and calm be yours ((hugs))

Blame is the only thing others don't want to claim as being their own.

My father does that! But I just keep my mouth shut. I don't want to hurt his feelings. I guess they just want to blame someone and not themselves. Don't respond to them when they do that! Most of the time they want attention.

you mean how people always blame satan or some other imaginary being ("it is gods will"), when something bad happens instead of putting the blame where it belongs, with themselves or humans in general? yeah i hate it when people do that...it must be nice to be able to pass the buck when you screw up....
