You can take the high road and just ignore it, or take the low road and kick somebodies booty.

2 part answer -
first off, dont go to your deathbed wishing you would have confronted the person/people who were spreading falsities about you. CONFRONT THEM. although it may require some unsettled nerves, you will thank yourself later and quite possibly affect the course of their life because of it.
second thing is to honestly not worry about it. if the things they said are false, then time will work itself out. People who know you as a trusting, honest person will not bat an eye at the lies. Also keep this in mind, if someone told you that your best friend was going to divorce her husband...dont you think you would pick up the phone and see for your self if it was true? So anyone who doesnt call you to confirm the lies, maybe isnt worth worrying about in the first place because they obviously dont care???
Thats my 2 cents.

Do you know who said it? is it a super reliable person admired by everyone? Don't worry, if you have real friends they know who you are and what you are capable of. Don't worry about what people say, there will alway be people who love to say things about others, the only way it becomes worse is if you listen or worry about it IGNORE IT you know who you are and you must be great, this is a little thing

NICELY talk to the person who you believe said the things and find out from them what was said. It could be that things weren't told back to you correctly, or were misinterpreted. Give the person a chance to explain themselves, then deal with it from there. But, you gotta be nice, and tell them that you were hurt, disappointed, or whatever by what they said. If they did indeed say such things about you, then they owe it to you to listen while you NICELY tell them the truth. Don't stoop to their level, but don't let them walk all over you either.

It makes me mad, especially if someone believes it and acts all weird like I've done something wrong but they don't tell me what it was. Quite often it is something I've said that I've misunderstood the question and answered but I thought I was talking about something else so that other person thinks something else and ......well you get the point. Fortunately I've been able to figure it out and explain what happened.

Dont over react. Dont defend too hard. Dont acknowlege the idiots who started the rumor. Hold your head up high and when asked say "No, I can't believe you would think that?" The less you react the less power it has and the sooner the rumors will go away. Be proud. Stand tough and never let them see you cry.
Good luck

Listen to me good hun: When you are talked about, you are often THOUGHT about. When people have the time to talk about you it usually means that you have carved out a place in their mind. They're thinking about you because they admire you. Take the high road, always look your best and keep on living as if they aren't even there.

Challenge the person who made the statement to repeat it in a court of Law. Strange how many people, especially Women, suddenly 'remember' that They got it wrong when You confront Them about the lies They have told.

Depends if they are good or bad, if they are bad I would probably attempt to get the truth out there, or at the very least try to minimize the damge. Rumors suck, but sometimes you can use them to your advantage, especially if its an obvious lie the person that started it may end up looking stupid.

be confident and lead your life like nothing has been said. if you give importance or attention to these things, the only person who will suffer is yourself and the person spreading the rumors will have accomplished his or her goal. if you just ignore them, then the person will eventually forget about it and realize that it doesnt effect you and stop from spreading any more rumors. BE STRONG!
