I'm a 29 year old mother of a 4 year old and I haven't dated anyone since she was born. Her father, of course, wants nothing to do with her and I'm wondering how my dating will affect her. I don't want her childhood to be memories of a bunch of random men entering and exiting her mother's life, and I don't think I could handle that myself. Do you think I should start dating again?

Date, but don't bring men to your house or even let them meet your daughter until you've been dating for a long time and trust that he would never hurt you or your daughter.

You should. You sound like a mature young woman, who puts her child first. You will develop an internal screening method. You don't sound like they type to have 'random men' in and out of your life.
