I keep getting headaches. I usually take Aleve for them and that helps, but I don't like to take that too often because it can cause stomach irritation (I have stomach problems). Tylenol doesn't seem to work for me. I don't have migraines. Any suggestions?

You may want to consider why you keep getting headaches. Dehydration is one factor (another reason to drink water throughout the day). Another factor might be eyestrain from sitting in front of a computer etc. Other than that, I'd recommend Excedrin. It's formulated so there is caffeine as well as a painkiller. It often works well for me.

As a warning, if you take painkillers too often, you can sometimes create headaches instead of cure them! Also, too much Tylenol (acetaminaphen ) can harm your liver.

Yes. First, I would stop taking those medicines and look for an alternate thing. Those medicines eat holes into you stomach as well as damage other organs like the liver.

I would seek out a NUCCA doctor, either one thats specialized in it or one that does similar work. I used to get headaches and back aches all the time. My mom actually suggested I go to one, which happened to be near me, and within about a month I started noticing alot of differences. One is, way less pain. Basically they use a simple technique to straighten the atlas in your neck which in turn straightens your back and stops damage from progressing.

Believe me, it does work. It usually takes a couple weeks once you start, but its worth it.

If you don't wish to do this, I would look up natural remedies. The problem with them is they attack the symptom, not the problem. Same with pain meds, they just hide the pain.

Hope this helps.

A good Body Massage works wonders - it takes the stress out, especially when the neck and shoulders get massaged properly - but get the massage done by someone who KNOWS what they're doing, if you're going that route. Make sure it's someone qualified.

Taking too many pills will cause you grief - like stomach ulcers, etc. Tylenol is bad and can cause cancer.

If your headaches are coming from stressful people in your life - definitely steer clear of them if at all possible.

Stress is very bad for your health and well-being, and it will gradually take you down.

Take care of yourself - You are all you really have!

I use White Willow Bark. If you live on a farm, more than likely it's abundant and you can brew your own tea (warning, it tastes nasty, but it works). Or you can buy the capsules at any health food or drug store. You might want to increase your fluid intake as well. Headaches are the first sign of dehydration. I used to get very severe migraines, after I started consuming 3 litres (3 qt.) of water a day, they went away.

Tylenol is the only one sold over the counter. However, a doctor can write you a prescription for something like "fioricet," which is not hard on the stomach. Stay away from Excedrin, Advil, or aspirin.

In other words, see your doctor for something for headaches that's not hard on the stomach. Good luck to you. :)

well, besides looking for the source of the headaches (sometimes it is possible to find and elminate the cause rather than just medicate the symptoms ... sometimes not) such as not eating regularly, dehydration, lack of sleep, stress, poor ventilation, food allergies, sinus problems, etc.

I find aleve works well on muscle pain but not on headaches. for me, plain old asprin still works wonders on my headaches. since plain asprin can cause stomach problems, you probably want to go with the enteric "saftey coated" asprin which protects your stomach by letting the asprin pass though the stomach (without disolving) before it is absorbed lower dow in the digestive tract (small intestine).

most painkillers are generally very safe when used infrequently, without exceeding recommended doses and taken with a glass or two of water. the water is key to preventing liver damage by helping the body get rid of these drugs and their byproducts.
