He can call himself a Christian if he'd like to be but it doesn't necessarily make him one unless he acts like one. To me, he didn't sound at all like what I would consider a Christian to sound like.
He can call himself the Emperor of the Ocean and it doesn't make him one. He ought to be bloody well ashamed of himself. Christians like that are why I stay a Pagan.
