I heard that they are going to make a new PS3 that WILL NOT be able to play PS2 games. I hope this isnt true, but my mom heard it from the electronics guy at work. Is it true?

Yes but it's the $299 40gig version ,,, sony will still be selling the 60gig and 80 gig ps3s which are backward capable so no worries.

It's true. 40GB version'll have 2 USBs, no memory slots and no support for PS2 games. Only PS1 games will run. But that version is going to be much cheaper.

I have a PS3 and it plays all PS1, PS2 and PS3 games. But you can only use your old save files from memory cards if you have an adapter, otherwise you have to make a memory card on the hardrive.

I have 60GB PAL PS3.I tried to play pirated PS2 disc,it was unable to play the disc.I didn't tried orignal PS2 disc.

only the 40gb will not play ps2 games but the 60 and 80gb does play almost all of them

that is some bullshit does sony just want to give up every type of eletronic they make and be second best at everything. they used to be at the top of every electronic but now they are second to every other major manufacturing company and all that is different is that they make u pay more then the top selling manufacter. xbox 360 is cheaper and is twice as good
