ask them for a "forbearance", which postpones your payments until you are enrolled in school again.

if they are private (signature) loans, they may not let you put them off even if you go back to school...

I'm a Student Loan consolidator, you have a couple different ways you can go.
Forbearance and Deferment- If you are not working, or only working part time you can request a economic hardship deferment until you re-enroll into school, you have to qualify by proof of non or part time employment.
Another option is to contact Sallie Mae and request a Forbearance, a suspension of payment that doesn't require qualifications.

Also, keep mind those loans are now eligible to have the rates fixed on them through consolidation and defer them, so that when you graduate all of your loans aren't at some huge rate.

If you have other questions I work for Academic Financial Solutions, and I have left a couple helpful websites were you can view and track your loan history.

Yes, you should pay the loans now because the six month grace period is done unfortunately for now. If you do not repay the loans, you would be considered in default and could prevent future loans until out of default status. It will be back on defer status once you are back in school again in January. I will include some free resources that should help. I do recommend looking for outside scholarships to minimalize the need for student loans in the future if possible. Good luck!
