So should i use whole, 2%, or skim? im not sure what good the fats do? i know that no matter what they have a great deal of the essential nutrients, but i was just wondering!

They are not horrible, but they are also not great for you. No animal fats are really good for you like vegetable fats are. If you want healthy fats, stick with nuts, avocados, etc. (from nonmeat sources).

If you drink a lot of milk, skim milk could be worth it, especially if you have high cholesterol.

The fat in milk is butterfat-basically butter. It's a saturated fat high in cholesterol.

skim, it will also taste like water.
