Hmmm - yes, very much so. But also like several other religion's version of the afterlife.
I don't know what will happen, nor will I speculate.

I take the Summerlands to mean a place you are in temporarily while evaluating what you learned in this lifetime and what you still need to learn in order get off the wheel of karma and move on to the next level. Then you choose your next parents, and off you go again. However, I am willing to accept the idea that maybe that's just metaphor, and in fact when I die, I will just be out like a candle in the wind. I still think we are all part of the Sun God anyway. Seen from even as little as a single light year away, we are. The observer would not say "That's the solar system over there," but "That's Sol over there."
"We rode a bubble through the sun
We all knew it could be done
There were men with fiery wings
And a million burning things."

I think the Summerland/Heaven/whatever you want to call it...is a place where a soul goes ONCE it has learned everything there is to learn. It is a time of reflection for those to stay and a time of preparation for those who "still have learning to do" before they are reincarnated. It's a big melting pot in that the souls that have passed...in the past...are recognizable to each other regardless of what sex they were. Doesn't matter male, female, or both during different periods of the past. A soul is a soul is a soul. However, it is also different and unique to each soul for their version of "perfection".

Blessings my friend!
Although i accept the wiccan rede and adhere to some of the principles, i do not consider myself wiccan.
As for my version of the summerlands, i was given a glimpse early in life and i believe it to be true... what i saw was just a beautiful peaceful land, much like a park with benches..many trees and different paths leading in different directions.
I am not really sure what my idea of "heaven" may be....
Bright Blessings To You!

"Eternal life" after death isn't a Christian concept. Going there for being "good" is a somewhat middle east concept.
I'm not sure I've ever thought that of the Summerlands to be honest, but I've also never really thought about it either.

IMO, all living things have souls, be they human, dog, butterfly, rose, or maple. When a living thing dies, three things can happen.
1.) Its soul goes to the afterlife Heaven/Summerland/Nirvana/Call it what you will. I see it as a great pool where all souls gather to stay for eternity or to be reincarnated later, depending on Godd and/or Karma.
2.) Its soul is immediately reincarnated.
3.) Its soul remains on earth as a ghost to finish something first before it moves on to step 1 or 2. That something can be learn a lesson it should have learned or to finish a job it started or to act as a guard for a location or person. That's why houses can be haunted, IMO.
When a soul is reincarnated, it can come back as any life form, be it what it was when it died or a human soul can return as a dog, a butterfly's soul can return as a rose, or a maple's soul can return as a human, etc. depending on Godd and/or Karma.

It does in fact strike a very similar chord to the Christian beliefs. However, Christianity does have roots in pagan religions, so when it comes down to it, at least your thoughts are original. I believe that life is the great indulgence, and death-the great abstinence. We were in a sense "dead" before we were conceived, and we can't comprehend that, either. Death is a natural part of life, and when we die, we are made into fertilizer. An abysmal thought, yes, but at times, it does bring me wuite a bit of comfort.

I believe in reincarnation, with a waiting place similar to Heaven/Summerlands. When there's a place for you back on earth and a family that needs you, back you go to try life again.

i think it's similar, but in important ways it's not.
to me heaven sounds more like a gated community than any place i would want to be.
the summerlands sounds like home. that's what i call the place we go in between incarnations. to rest and decide what we still need to learn.
bright blessings to you.
