Scientology is simply a religion.
They lure people in by thinking they are doing "scientific" tests, using brainwave words like "alpha, beta, gamma" waves for instance. This makes them look scientific.
However, this is where the religion part starts. Once you're in the religion/club, you have to pay money for documents talking about humanity - how humans came from Earth from aliens, travelling in a spacecraft. And how we going to be invaded by those aliens, commanded by the leader named Xenu.
By the way, that kind of knowledge was supposed to be secret, until one was able to pay lots of money for the documents. Unfortunately, we have the internet, and a lot of the documents have been leaked onto there. And you need to pay lots of money for the documents as your soul or "operating thetan" is supposed to be freed every time you hand out money.
The thing is, Scientology has absolutely no proof of its claims - which is unscientific in any sense or form. In one sense, Scientology can be cultish.
Tom Cruise, a actor and Scientologist, is making a $10 million bunker because of his fears of alien invasion.

Supposedly all of that information about scientology is secret stuff known only to those at the top. So for 99% of them the answer would be no. Thats like asking if christianity is really about Satan pretending to be the second coming to gain followers and sit at the right hand of God (another secret thing known only to the top people according to cartoons). If it wasnt for people saying so on the internet then most scientologists would have no idea what you are talking about.
Scientology means "study of knowing" and the courses they teach do a good job of it. Communications, studying, shaking peer pressure, getting off drugs. Good stuff. I took a couple in my younger days and still use it.

wonder is the scientists figured out through the alphabetical order that
God=G and O and D=G+O+D=7+15+4=26=2+6=8=H
or 26=Z
thus the line GOD equals the end (ie the Z) And God then became the beginning (A) because it was basically the same symbol of Z (ie Z=a form of .I7 mixed up and sealed together) because it was also a form of .I7 mixed up and sealed together.
so question is was God=Z calculated first then was it decided that A was also God? And then did God is ONE which is 1 come before A and Z were worked out? Because 1 = a form of .I7 mixed up and sealed together.
i am interested in this because my family name is also "a form of .I7 mixed up and sealed together." it equals .seventeen mixed up and sealed together =Stevens.n (the S can be made up of two e's (one upside down) and the . is an o) So perhaps the Stevenson name can be symbolized as A, Z, 1 meaning if i write a book and someone publishs it, one verse could be:
And TODD said, "I AM the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the A and the Z, The One who is 1."
Or because Jesus wrote or said, "I am the Alpha and Omega..." you think He is God? this "A" is the Alpha and the Omega character is like a picture of a man's head and shoulders. Since i am also a Man, i can rightly say, "I am the Alpha and Omega too, except A really did symbolize My family name." Perhaps Jesus was a Stevens.n? And like in Da Vinchi Code the last name was ommitted to protect the family?

That really depends. Few Scientologists believe the mythology about the aliens. That's not the point of the religion.
Now as far as paying goes, if a Scientologist is stupid enough to get truly involved in the actual *Church* or Scientology, yeah you'll pay a LOT of money. But luckily a lot of Scientologists stick to the religion and skip the organized church aspect, and they turn out fine. My community is full of that brand of Scientologist.

The name comes from Latin.. scio which means knowledge or knowing and logos which means, study of..
So Scientology means Knowing How to Know.
Here’s a factual description for you (From an actual Scientologist):
Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. By “applied” is meant that it is for use in life and living. You actually use it in your day to day life to chandge and improve existing conditions. It is a practical religion.
All religions if you study them have a basic philosophy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this , but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It acknowledges the principle of God or the Supreme Being but does not try to define or describe this principle, leaving it up to the individual.
It is also not a messianic religion. This means there is no worship of prophets or messiahs.
It is not belief or faith based. In Scientology a truth is true for you according to your own observation and experience .
The dictionary definition that applies:
Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognises the existence of superhuman power or powers.
The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a thing you have but what YOU actually are.
Scientology believes or considers that Man is basically good. This is different from many religions that promote that he his natively evil or bad unless “made” good.
The whole purpose of Scientology knowledge application and procedure is to increase an individual’s understanding and awareness of himself and to rehabilitate his native abilities and potential.
When you do this there sphere and zones of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life , his family and friends, his groups and Mankind of which he is part .
How this result is achieved is the “technology” of Scientology, which was developed by L Ron Hubbard from discoveries he made after extensive research into the field of the mind and the human spirit.
Some of this knowledge was already existing in the ancient texts of the Veda or Vedic Hymns going back 10,000 years. New and additional discoveries were made and fully recorded and codified .
Hubbard published 18 basic books from 1950 to 1953 to fully communicate these basic [rinciples and the path of his research. He completed all his research before his death in 1986 and left all his materials and copyrights to the Church of Scientology’s Religious Technology Centre along with most of his personal estate when he died.
The Church of Scientology is currently established iand operating internationally in over 160 countries world wide. However it is still a new religion, less than 55 years old.
The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher developes a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.
This is just an overview.
L.Ron Hubbard explained fully the theology and technologies of Scientology in more than 500,000 pages of writings, including dozens of books and over 3,000 tape recorded public lectures. So it’s not possible to fully answer you question on this forum.
That's what it's really about , as for paying money,
it's true that Scientology has various fixed donations for it's services. The amount depends only on the cost to deliver them and support the specific Church or Mission that is doing so.
The reason for this unusual financial set up for a Church is that Scientology is a new religion, only 53 years old. It does not have hundreds of years of accumulated wealth and property like other religions. It must operate and establish itself in the world according to the economics of today's society.
But the basic knowledge that is Scientology is available
is the basic books which cost the same as any other text books and are also available at your local library.

began by potential of L. Ron Hubbard as 'self help technique' stated as Dianetics (he began out writing SiFi books and then wrote self help books) ...it right into a became "faith".....many human beings (Christians, atheist, agnostics, former individuals, ect) say that's the ideal 'text cloth-e book' occasion of a non-violent Cult (theory some individuals have suggested actual and emotional abuse) the hassle-loose theory is: in the time of your and previous lives you have had destructive reviews which you would be able to not keep in mind, those repressed reviews 'carry you returned'.... by particular counseling stated as "Dianetics" (presented by potential of the CoS. for a nominal value) you may 'technique/take care of' those undesirable reviews....as quickly as there all taken care of, you may go beyond to a "severe undeniable of life" ....the top....

It is a scam religion to soak people of their money. It is based on deceased con man Ron. L. Hubbard's book " Dianetics" which is a mild brainwashing method that supposedly cures all your social disorders and personality flaws. Scam, but quite a successfull scam .
