Ibought a car from a private party for cash(i have receipt)one week ago. I haven't been able to drive the car except for one time to the DMV and Insurance agent. Every other time I got in to drive the car it wouldn't start. Can I get my money back?

All private party sales (non dealer) are assumed to be As-Is unless there is a written warranty , or contract that says otherwise.

Did you have the car checked out by your own qualified mechanic prior to purchase? If not, why not? Have you had the car checked to see what is wrong now?

The only way you can get a refund would be if the seller was willing to purchase the car back from you. The odds of this happening are very low. You have about as much chance of winning the lottery (without buying a ticket).

Have the car repaired and drive it safely!

usually private party sales are as is. have you had it looked at to find out what is wrong with it. you do not give any details as to what it is or is not doing so we really cannot say what we think may be wrong with it

Probably not.

The general rule is Caveat Emptor - buyer beware. You are expected to know exactly what you're buying

Its pretty hard for a Private seller to give you your money back..Just have faith in it he/she will MAYBE give it back..unless they spent the money already.

You can try in small claims court, but if you lose you will have to pay court costs.
