I think it is looked at from a different point of view. I think there is not only a generation shift but a bigger sociological one too. I don`t think its dying but more evolving, people are more ready to accept and `believe` in spirituality.

Can I just say high to the yahoo team..................I know you are there! hee hee

Hi,
I think there is still a fascination in the mythical Gods and the beautiful stories woven around them. It is also interesting to compare Gods from one culture to another, so many, bear a close resemblance to each other and through considering the legends behind the mythical Gods we can also get an impression of life in those times. Man was so aware of the changing seasons, the weather, the ‘portents’ from the skies. They lived beneath the Stars and their observance of the position of the Stars and planets and how things that occurred on earth correlated with certain signs in the skies. This was the start of astrology. Zeus is the God of the sky, the clouds and the rain, Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and of Beauty, associated with Venus the planet of Love. Ares, God of War associated with Aries, zodiac sign ruled by Mars God of War. The concept of mythological Gods in this respect may have run its course but the fascination behind it all will never die.

Yes the concept of the mythologocial God is dying and it is being replaced by more logical belief in the real God. Since most scientists and science students still believe in God, anything about God dying is just a myth.

What? Your question is a bit confusing.

Some pagan traditions have symbolic deaths of the god, like in Wicca he dies at Samhain, only to be reborn at Yule. It's a circular process in this particular mythological story- He's born at Yule, grows up and impregnates the goddess in the spring, then he dies, and... then Yule again. It's an allegorical story to relate to the changing seasons.

Peoples acceptance of Christ in their life is dying off. There are a ton of things taking that place. Wrong priorities, kids not taken care of, obsession with material goods, obsession with lust, greed, apathy for humankind, etc.

It died a long time ago. But too many folks either didn't get the memo or are determined to continue misleading the world.

Science and democracy* will take its place.

mythological?....gee...I see you still have an open mind.

If anything is taking the place of religious lifestyles, it would be selfish lifestyles.
So, I guess people are worshiping themselves.

Is that what you were asking?

Yes, but painfully slowly. Hopefully what will replace unreasonable faith is reasonable doubt (skepticism).
