I've heard of people jumping (or threating) to jump off the Tyne bridge. How often does it happen (every week, couple of times a year)?

Just out of interest. Just wondering if the bridge would be classed as a "suicide hotspot" or not.

People do threaten to jump off the Tyne Bridge quite often, but actual jumpers are probably only once or twice a year.

Them that do for attention do it quite regularly. Another place is also Armstrong Bridge, I remember a few years ago a Mother took her disabled child and jumped with him... tragic.

Where on earth have you got this information? I would have thought that ' a very rare occurance' would have been a more apt description.
If there was any sort of a 'hotspot' for suicides in North East England (pushing it a bit), it would be Valley Gardens Bridge in Scarborough, but I would think that even that averaged out at far less than one per year.
