Basically in a way the trees are speaking to us, and yes the trees pertain to humans because like trees we are alive. But, although the trees appear to be so pretty in their fall colors.... like us they are dieing, lack of oxygen. Everything in the world is made to scratch, dent, chip, rot and die....because it's only temporary in this life.... except for our soul-spirit that will live for eternity.

I'm just guessing, but I wonder with all the reds, golds and oranges, if we're not loading up on warmth to get us through the winter...
Interesting question, I'd never thought of this before...
EDIT: Hey, do you think that this is why so many seniors live in Florida? Do you think that all of the green makes their spirits feel youthful, and possibly has healing qualities as well?

I have long thought 'Ode To Autumn' by John Keats to be the perfect answer to such a question...it doesn't dictate or spell out the 'spiritual' side of Autumn, yet evokes it solidly with its fecund, ripened imagery ...and the hints of temporal mortality...it kind of draws it out of you.
Ironically, Keats was an atheist...
