I've been an insomniac all my life. By the time I was 12 I had a lot of night I didn't fall asleep until 2 or 3 and only slept for 45-50 minutes at a time.
Please, please take your dd to a dr now if she is having trouble. Maybe they'll find a reason behind it rather then her having to suffer. Plus there are ways to help without sleeping pills.
ie: no caffiene after 4 pm, no TV in room, make room as dark as possible, etc.

There are NONE. If she is having trouble sleeping she needs to quit watching television at least 1/2 hour before bed. There should be NO television in her room, television inhibits deep recoupretive REM sleep and causes sleep disorders/sleep depravaton in school aged children so badly that their grades fall, they fall asleep in class and they are generally in a bad mood most of the time because they are TIRED. If she is still having problems sleeping then take her to a doctor.

None. Try giving her oatmeal made with milk, and almonds about an hour before bed. It will get the natural chemicals working so she can fall asleep quicker. It may not work the first time but it works very well.

I think you need to address the underlying issues of her sleeping patterns. It concerns me that you are asking this question at all.
You need to assess her diet, potential allergies or illness, medical history, mental and emotional states, and the general state of the relationships in your home.
This is not a healthy question - what is your motivation? Is she giving you normal teenage trouble? or is it something more. Please get some professional help - start with your pediatrician and go from there.

First I would check with her doc. But Tylenol has a good one, it's called Simply Sleep, without all the added stuff you need when you're sick, like an aspirin or such. The active ingrediant is Diphenhydramine, basically just Benadryl.

uhm thats a little weird. How about you let her rest, cut out sugar and food right before bed. Let her fall asleep on her own let her read before bed...try not to drug your kid. Why not just give her like a shot of whiskey before bed....crazy

It isn't normal that a 13 year old can't sleep. take her to a doctor and try and get to the root of the problem.

Talk to your doctor before you decide on that. It is normal at that age to have trouble sleeping. Hormonal activity etc.
That having been said, try giving her some herbal tea before bed (there are ones for nightime) or Tylennol Simply Sleep which is non-habit forming.
But please, CONFIRM WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST!
