There's a saying that goes something like "A person is smart. People are dumb."
That's how I look at it. Humanism focuses on the human, not any group of humans.

There is hope for humanity. Don't only see all the evil that man does, see also all the good that mankind does...
I see the evil that man has done and continue to do, but I also see the love and compassion that man has displayed throughout history....I love mankind and I can see why God, loves mankind as well......There is an old saying..."Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater"

Regardless of our faith we are all humans. Most people are religious yet it hasn't stemmed the tide of violence at all. As a matter of fact many religions kill and commit genocide in the name of their particular faith.
As a Christians we are as susceptible to hate and prejudice as anyone. I hope you recognize that. We are as God made us. Accepting Christ doesn't mean we are now perfect, in fact we have to work harder. I notice a lot of Christians on this site don't get that.
We all should be humanist regardless of our faith. If we're ever to make any headway with our problems, we have to stop thinking we are something other than human. Come on down to earth and lets work with what we got.

I don't know about you, but I'm neither destructive or evil. And pretty much everyone I know is like me in that sense. Keep in mind that Humanism is a defined concept, not an inheritance.
You might also do well to be a bit more open minded and imaginative about the world around you.

wow is it so black and white. There are some (and i am not one of them :D) that are good that give a damn and are not so evil. People need something to believe in so that they can live and have a sense of purpose... that is why some people believe as such

Glass half empty I see. Well, I prefer the glass half full - there is plenty of love and charity in the human race too. Given that I see hope for humanity - it's all in what you choose for your eyes to see.

Does anything besides warfare, genocide and man vs man conflict ever happen? Or is that about all there is?
Are you certain that you're looking at the entire picture?

How can anyone campaign for human rights, when humans are so wrong?
(OK, you passed me the guttering, sputtering torch of misanthropy , and I ran with it...)
