Those that say Christianity because of the crusades don't realize who they were fighting against. The Catholics have blood on their hands as do Protestants. They mostly concentrate on enslaving or killing the weak and helpless, particularly Native Americans and other indigenous cultures. I'm not sure. It's hard to measure violence. Neither have been particularly peaceful, but in terms of its relation to imperial behavior, I'd wager that Christianity wins hands down.
