It really depends on your life style and your job. If you are in a conservative line of work, then very long hair may hold you back. I know we aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, but we all do if we don't have the time to read it. Personally, having grown up in the 60's-70's, long hair was the only IN thing, thus I have always been partial to it. These days, anything goes. I think that the very short to bald look that is popular with some these days is rather unattractive and I am glad I am no longer looking in that pool for a date (I married a musician with shoulder length hair.) Only a perfectly shaped head with a handsome face is going to look good with very little hair on top. Hair covers many of our imperfections and can enhance the shape of one's face if cut correctly for the face. However, if your long hair is thin at the ends or you end up wearing it in a ponytail all the time anyway, then get it cut shorter, but not short. Start with long layers just below your shoulders (I am assuming that when you said "very long hair" you meant at least mid-back) and see how you like it. Many of the heroes in storybooks had/have longer hair. It looks dashing, provocative, and sexy. It can transform an otherwise ordinary looking man as long as it is thick, clean, shiny and well groomed. The best example is Steve Guttenberg's character in the movie, "The Boyfriend School." The best example of a sexy man with long hair is the character "Smith" who was Samantha's long haired, blonde boyfriend on Sex in the City. Granted, he even looked good when he gave himself a crew cut, but he was best with the long hair. Ever see Tom Cruise in the movie "Legend?" He never looked better. Or Richard Gere in "First Knight?" Yumm-mm.

I ahd very very long hair (below the shoulder baldes to about the middle of my back). The only reason I cut it is nobody thought I would. People think I looked better with my short hair. I personally like long hair. It works on some people but not on others. Do what you like. If you like your hair keep it.

really, i'd need a pic because some guys look better with long hair than others, and it does depend on how long it is. But,still i hate when guys with long hair cut it all off, so if you MUST cut it, try too keep it at least chin length (like Criss Angel). I think it's the perfect length for a guy
