Try slanting the paper the same direction as you would when you write right handed which will prevent the backhand slant.....hold the pen in your left hand the same way you would with your right hand, don't bend your wrist around from the top. You will always have a smeared ink stain on the outside edge of your hand as writing lefty pushes thru what you have just written!...I learned to write caligraphy right handed just by practice.....over and over again till I mastered the letters....the repetition creates new memory paths to your brain....soon you'll have it down just like breathing!
Do you know that us lefties are the only ones in our right mind?!

It takes practice. I'm assuming you already know how to write with your right hand? Think about all the practice your right hand has had in school and other types of writing you've done. Your left hand will need a lot of practice too. You could get some handwriting textbooks like little kids use and practice in those.

well since I'm a fellow leftie i would say just to try whatever makes it more comfortable i had a similar problem but now my hand writing is very neat and my art is better after just taking my time with it so just take it one step at a time

Practice "mirror writing".
