Call an Olds dealer parts dept or any GM dealer parts guys..their computers may be able to decode the VIN number for you....the 8th character is for the engine. Some charts listed here...

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

Every vehicle has its own unique VIN Number.

If you have the VIN and you want a complete report on the vehicle, go to carfax.com and order a report. It is relatively cheap and if you are interested in buying this car, it is definitely worth it.

I tested the first one that I got in a Google search on "vin decoder", http://www.decodethis.com/, and it worked on my wife's old 1998 Dodge Neon, her old 1996 Saab 900, my 1996 Mazda B3000, and my old 1998 Toyota Supra Turbo. That's all the VINs I had handy!
