Go to a stylist that is well-experienced in the coloring process. It's not *that* expensive.

Dyeing your hair is a *chemical process*. I've been having my hair colored for many years and would NEVER consider doing it myself. I want my hair to look good... and I'm sure you feel the same.

Also, you have long hair-- it's not going to be that simple to do yourself... it has to be evenly distributed throughout---otherwise you end up with uneven color, at the very least. Worst case, you can lose a lot of hair. And you've already experienced that in the past.

Think it over. It's worth every penny of having a pro do your hair color. Have a few consultations with different stylists. I'm sure you can find one who is reasonable and yet qualified to do the color for you.

Good luck..

part your hair in the middle and hold the sides of your hair up in the air when you're dyeing your roots/part and work your way down like that. Don't rub it into your scalp. Do it like you're trying to spike your hair or make it stand up like a troll's:p, by working the dye up, not in. If you still get dye on your scalp, wash it off with a cold, wet cloth.

Get it highlighted w/ a cap. A stylist will put a cap on your head (looks funny, but the results are good), & use a needle looking thing (it's not a needle & will not puncture your scalp) to pull hairs threw the cap, then put bleach on it. The bleach will only go on the hair that's pulled through the cap, it won't touch your scalp at all.

Hire a hairdresser. It's faster, and it works best, and it looks best.
