I've found a lovely wallpaper, which is red with black & silver ferns (Paradise in the Julien McDonald collection http://www.grahambrown.com/store/viewProduct.do?id=157765)

I only want the wallpaper on one of my bedroom walls, so what colour should I paint the other three walls? It's a smallish bedroom. I think red would be too much and my mum and sister think silver, but I'm just not sure. If anyone knows any web sites where I can see a similar colour scheme I'd be grateful too. Thank you.

Thanks to everyone - you all seem to be saying cream / off-white, so that's great. Unfortunately the furniture is light wood until I can afford a new set, but dark would be great. The bedding is white with tiny little silver squares down each side, which is what made me go for wallpaper with silver in.

Thanks jbm - me, my sister and my mum love it - my husband and 2 sons hate it - but I decide on all the decor! ;)

1] paint the other walls either pale gray, soft white, or off-white
[ in a flat or satin finish, not glossy ].
2] get black, gray, white, or combo of two/three for bedding, and drapes.
3] accessorize with black [ iron? ] and silver [ chrome or pewter ] items - lamps, candlesticks, ornaments
4] whar color is the furniture? A dark or black wood finish would be great [ more 'silver' accessories if more black added ]
5] add fabric touches [ pillows, reading chair ] in black, gray, red, or white; or combo
TIP: don't put anything red against the wallpaper - red is really difficult to match well. Could use in bedding if headboard is neutral, or on pillows if bedding is neutral.

i think cream would be nice, not too cold and not too obtrusive on the wallpaper, nice choice by the way! (i also like the black and white one with peacocks on)

I think cream wouldnt clash with the silver as there isnt too much there. failing that, white, although could be a little cold

sounds cool
sure red is too much .
i would try maybe a off white,
this will tone do the red ,and enhance the over all look
of you room. i be live it will make it feel cosy instead of small

i would also suggest placeing a mirror, to help relfect the light , of the walls
