My husband was not allowed to re-enlist until after the 1st of October becasue he was not able to collect his SRB until after the 1st of the Fiscal Year. His EOS is 10/27/2007. Apparently the SRB was not approved by Congress until later and he is still not able to get his re-enlistment until he is "Approved", if he can re-enlist until after his EOS date can he still get his SRB? Why is it taking so long to get this approved? Should we be concerned?

He really should discuss the specifics of his situation with his career counselor . It does need to happen before EOS since he would otherwise be discharged and then it's a whole different game. It may be appropriate for him to extend for a month or two if needed to sort out the paper work. Again his career counselor should be able to help him sort it out.

He should be able to get an extension for a few month until the SRB money is approved in the budget.

He should put in for an extension until the budget is approved and the paper work is done. This kind of stuff happens almost every fiscal year. Don't worry, it will just take some time. In past years, it has taken as long as December.
