only three on each side of the motor. Under a plastic cover find 3 coils over plugs and behind out in the open three different shaped coils over spark plugs. If you do not have 3mm allen wrench socket 8mm magnetic socket and 10mm magnetic socket regular 12mm socket and a good 5/8 inch spark plug socket and extentions ratchet handle do not attempt allow a professional to do the work. I can get in and out with out removing and possably breaking electrical connectors. Some of which have tricky green slide in and push locks on them.

Well, the 1997 Nissan Maxima came stock with the same engine for each package of options. The engine is the 190hp 3.0L V6. So in turn, that car has six spark plugs. Now go make sure you get the right ones and check the gap!

Depends, 4 or 6.

Look under the hood and count the plug wires, one wire per spark plug.

Or, take the VIN to a parts dealer and they can tell you.
