I feel like the person who made this original post is mad because I didn't give the response that he/she wanted. Do you think I am out of line? I got a message saying that I had been reported due to my answer. What are your thoughts......
The question - "How long as (sic) my dog left til she gives birth?
i found out she was pregnant by a friend that knows alot (sic) about dogs, i have felt the puppies moving alot (sic) and her teets (sic) are leaking. yes it was planned and looking forward to meeting them. plz help"
My response was....."If it was planned, you should know the answer to this question BEFORE breeding. Be a responsible pet owner!"
Does this violate protocol? I know I should be asking this in the category Y!A, and I will, but I just want your opinion in the "dogs" section.
P.S. (sic) = spelling is correct... it's a quote, so I want to put what was EXACTLY said!

To "Dog Owner" - you are in violation because you gave an ojectional (sic) answer read the rules"
hahahahhahahahhaha
seriously?!?!!?! This is Yahoo! Answers!!! People come on here saying "my dog got hit by a car, and now she's acting weird. what should I do!!" hahah
By the way - You're saying that I gave a statement that was FACTUAL. SUBJECTIVE is opinion.
I'm done adding details. I know this is getting quite long. I'm a bit drunk (honestly) as it's almost 1am. Goodnight all, and for those who gave it, thanks for the support :)

It was blunt, to the point, and correct. The person was offended by the truth, and there is nothing you can do about that. Don't let it stop you from trying to help. The next one may listen to you.
Edit: Dog Owner-what about the obvious attacking comment you made to me in another poster's question? Don't YOU be so high and mighty-and by the way, I didn't report you for your personal attack.
There really is a big difference between dog owners and dog lovers.

While don't think it's in violation and you were trying to get a true point across, I don't think you know the whole situation and therefore I think it may not be your place to point and yell. I'm not trying to put you down, but I've been the asker that got yelled at by the person that didn't know the whole situation and it doesn't feel very good. My motto (and you'll see me post this on some of my questions and answers) is "Don't judge, just answer the question".
But thank you for actually looking into and making sure you were in check. Maybe next time put the same point across in a gentler way, they may be more incline to actually listen rather than just get offended.

Doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, someone didn't like it so you got reported. The backyard breeders seem to rule in the background. They report you, and you get a violation.
EVERYONE should appeal when they get a violation. If Yahoo is going to delete answers and questions cause foolish people don't like what you had to say. Maybe we should rebel and back up YA with appeals. Maybe they will read the questions and then quit taking reports from Poison People ! APPEAL !

I see nothing wrong with your answer. It might not have been a direct answer and that might have been the cause for someone reporting it, but I would not personally consider it a violation at all. I think that you are correct in your assumption that it was just someone that did not like your answer. (which I happen to agree with) Don't take it to heart- I had one last week that actually blocked me because I gave an answer that she did not want to hear *LOL* and it was she who sent me a nasty e-mail, not the other way around.

Welcome to the ranks of those who say what needs to be said, and are hated by the irresponsible because it wasn't what they wanted to hear. Many "askers" only want the Disneyworld fantasy sugar-coated answer or an "amen" to some hare-brained, cockamamie scheme so they don't feel so guilty for doing something they know is actually wrong. Take it on the chin and don't back down. Appeal the report, and repeatedly ask YA appeals for a progress report on your appeal. Violations really aren't that big a deal when it's only from a disgruntled asker that you didn't give a "hallelujah" to.

This person had asked about 5 questions in a row and I asked (quote): "You have alot of questions today don't you?" And I got an email from Yahoo saying I had violated something!
Maybe the person found my answer offending..lol I don't know but I never OBVIOUSLY meant it to be rude in any way.

I don't think they even READ flagged content before deleting it- I've had a lot of answers deleted that were not in any obvious violation of the TOS. All the asker has to do is be angry about your response, click the little button, and BEEP your answer disappears forever because he or she didn't want to hear the truth.
So sad, but so true... I don't think you did anything wrong at all.

People will report you simply b.c they cannot handle the truth. I have had so many violations its rediculous. All were just honest answers and not crude in any way.
People just want you to sugar coat everything. They need to honestly grow up.

I don't think you are violating any guideline. Probably you violate the asker's guideline for the "CORRECT" answer. These people ignore the fact that they're doing something wrong and still want people to say whatever they want to hear. Good grief.

When giving answers, be careful to say what you think in an unoffensive manner. There are too many highly sensitive folks out ther, so think about your answers carefully.
You could have been a bit more tactful in the first part of your response.
Take care!
