We have looked everywhere. NO passports so abroad out of question. Just 2 adults and one 2 year old. Either hotels don't take under 6's or booked or Butlins is £400 for the week standard room (seems expensive)
Any ideas?

Try Haven Holiday sites.
My friend and I are hoping to get a Half Term break there. Prices for then are still between £200 and £300 at the moment but the prices are going down every day. Last year friends booked on the Friday to go for a week leaving next day and it cost them £89 for a self catering caravan. You have to be quite flexible on where you go though!

Holidays during the school holidays are not cheap, so you'll struggle to find a "cheap holiday" The problem nowadays is that schools are fineing parents who take their children out of school, which is why I am assuming you are taking the school holidays as your holiday period.

Self catering holidays are okay, but accommodation is ridiculously expensive in the UK. Try activehotels.com or latebreaks.com for hotels, and then drive to your destination.

The Lake District is beautiful but the weather can be a little dodgy this time of the year.

Try a self catering holiday. You can get short breaks on some properties.
Depending on where you want to go I would recommend Dorset, as you have the Jurassic coast line which kids love and plenty of other places to visit.
I have used 'Lymebay holidays' for short breaks who are very reasonable.
Dorset is lovely in October.

Are you and your partner teachers, just wondered why you've picked that week as a time to go on holiday, they put the prices up everywhere during school holiday, rip off Britain as usual, I would go a week either side of that holiday if you can and see what a difference it is price wise.

have a look at www.park-resorts.com. They often have some good deals....you might find just what you need, and I think they have parks pretty much everywhere, I would recommend Waterside, near Paignton in Devon. Close to several beaches; Goodrington, Paignton, Brixham, Torquay, and it has a good clubhouse on site too!
