yea...i totally agree with you, 50% of my town's population is hispanic....they're not the nicest people, i know several exceptions that love this country and know english and did the whole "becoming citizens" process....but many of them just want all the rights and none of the responsibility...that's what annoys me, i wouldn't mine if they were really willing to learn the language and work so their family can live better....but most dont really care, they live in the slums and work at the plant...it annoys me how some people who maybe live in wyoming and have maybe seen 1 mexican in all their life are so willing to point a finger at you and call you racist and intolerant where they've never seen or been through what you have....

Well, I'm Mexican and I speak English. I have never been to United States. I would like to go one day but it isn't my goal to stay there. I live happily in Mexico !! You know, there are people that are rude all over the world...My cousin was killed by an American, he was Mexican. Nothing happened! He is dead and the other is free...I don't know how good my English is, but I studied English literature and I love American literature a lot! Just try to understand the otherness...And yes, I live in a third world country, but also remember that part of your country was Mexico one day and your government stole our territory. America is a continent not United States. I could understand what the American Dream was when I read The Great Gatsby.
We only have different cultures ...that's it.

There's good and bad in every race. Mexicans are not the only ones coming into this country illegally. Many from South America use Mexico as an entrance to the U.S. I see where you're coming from about the whole"this is America, speak English" b/c I've been in that situation before. A spanish-speaker got mad at me b/c I would not talk them in spanish. I am Tex-Mex (at least 3 generations born in U.S.) and my spanish was not good so I just said I don't speak it. Yes, some do get very rude and curse me under their breath. I see both sides though: The ones that are desperate for a chance and who are the most kind-hearted souls and the ones who must have been tainted along the way and are rude and give a bad name to all Hispanics.
Oh and to answer the other portion of your question: I believe this country is about diversity, so whoever makes it--good for them. If anyone had the chance to better themselves, why would they not take it? The winos and beggers on the streets that don't try to better themselves =when they have the opportunity= are more of a disgrace in my eyes.

I agree. If you are here you must speak the language. If you don;t then go back to mexico or go to school. The fact that a person at least is trying is better.

I laughed at one answer. How come we can't find decent mexican food? If they are going to steal our country that would be the least that they could do. Answer is that they have no decent food..... it is all the same no matter how you cut it.
Don't blame the hispanics..... blame your country as this problem could be taken care of in a year with IDs and employment verification. No wall needed.

I learned English, I paid for and waited for and qualified for a green card, and I live in Mexico most of the time. Many are like me here, they work seasonally and return home. Mexico is a very nice place to live and I prefer it to usa.
The illegals are causing trouble for everyone, you and us.

Who needs stupid gringos especially here in the USA! They cooperate without any hassles! They are nice and respectful people when it comes to relationships with others!

We are ALL immigrants to this country. We had to speak the language...so they should too. I don't go in their country and tell them they all have to learn my language. I think that's rude as hell. I don't mind them coming here, hell i am happy for them. If it means a better life for them....great! But learn English too while u are here. There are plenty of Latinos that speak English that can teach you. Don't expect us to conform to you. This is our country not the other way around.

I don't think Mexicans are taking over our country any more than the Irish or Germans did at the turn of the last century. I do think that bigot feel that this is OUR country and we know how best to run it and all foreigners need to stay out.
Actually we are doing a pretty damn poor job of seeing to a number of issues. We have a huge welfare society, a huge prison population, we are not able to educate our young and we are not able to take care of our elderly.
I think we should embrace people who want to come here and work....who else is going to give your overweight child their big mac and super duper fries?
