I have often heard phrases like "You will pay for your sins" and "when the world ends you will know the truth" and "we shall see who is right when I am in Heaven and you are in Hell".These phrases sound an awful lot like people seeking vindication. Is that the case?

It DOES seem like that, and that's too bad, because Christians are not supposed to be wishing that on anyone.

Ever hear of something called "justice"? Or do you live in a country which has no judical system.

As for vindication, for Christian it comes from the Lord. Ro 12:19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

And in 2Thess 1 it says
God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed.

Well, I feel that in your details it sounds more like condemnation?

But with the def I found in the dictionary, I would say that some will defend their faith, and it may be against someone who is saying they are wrong to believe in God, because he is not real.
We are vindicated through Christ.

Personally, I seek "salvation".

What you're lacking is that we've been accepted for hundreds of years to objective to love by using our very own concept of love. go searching you on the end result. No, Christians have not got a monopoly on love. they have in basic terms had their nostril pointed interior the direction of a God authorized appropriate variety for the affection that God approves of. They, such as you, nonetheless warfare with their very own awareness getting interior the way of perfecting love.

Those do sound rather vindictave. Unfortunately, there are some Christians who go around spewing stuff like that. I try to preach the gospel in love.

Forgiveness is my vindication. For when I forgive, God shall forgive me. It is then that I am vindicated.

But people will know the truth when we die. Whether the Christians, Hindus, or Atheists have it right....we will know when we die.

I never thought of it as something as simple as seeking vindication. It comes off as a curse, a condemnation and power trip rolled into one.

It also strikes me as coercion and blackmail. "Listen to me or else!" "Do what I say or (die/burn/suffer) in Hell."

Then there's the extortion angle. "The whole world (except for people who listen to me and pay tithes of 10% to 25% of their income) is condemned to eternal damnation." "Give your attention, time, money, loyalty and control over your thoughts and actions to me, or my friends and I will hate you and hound you to the ends of the earth, (ostracize/torture/kill) you to make sure your trip to Hell starts sooner rather than later."

Nice group, eh?

We are just stating truth and facts.

If that stikes too close to the bone, that is your issue.

You make your own bed as far as salvation is concerned.

You have no excuse, you KNEW about God, even posted in R&S, but did you reject Him?

Jesus said you MUST be born-again to get into heaven. If you do not want to get into heaven, then that is your choice.

God does not SEND anyone to hell. You choose where you want to go..

Christ did all that and more my friend...He is the judge of all who do not follow Him. As Christians we are not to vindicate but to search and seek the lost and bring them to salvation, not judge.

The only vindication I need has already been done. Jesus Christ did this when He died on the cross to save us from our sins.
